Question about Yamaha NC 110 Motorcycles

When riding the bike the rpm gauge doesn't move in any gear but the speedometer woks fine. What should I do?

Check the inner cable from your rpm clock,,sounds like its broken...

Speedometer and rpm gauge not working and the car shifts just fine


You will need to pull your instrument cluster and have it repaired. Kind of common problem on GM vehicles of that era. There are plenty of places that repair and rebuild clusters, Ive even seen them on e bay .

Sounds like the wiring harness was damaged or left disconnected when the engine was installed.

sounds like carbs need a service, are sliders free and moving correctly, is there any restriction to fuel flow, fuel tap, is air filter good. any air leaks around carbs

In order to calculate your speed by the RPM gauge, you need to know your car's gear ratio, the diameter of your tires and what gear you are in. It would be safer to take your car into the shop and have the speedometer repaired. It is a relatively inexpensive repair and much better than a speeding ticket. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok i have a 1999 camaro and the gas speedometer and rpm gauge go up and only the gas and speedometer go back down. all my other gauges are fine


Need a new cluster. There may be a recall not sure but you can have cluster fixed by replaceing the step up motor in cluster.

Since both gauges died at the same time, I would suspect either a connector issue with the dash cluster, or a signal issue from the computer. The RPM signal originates at the ignition and the speedo signal at the VSS. The likelyhood of those both dying at the same time is very slim. An easy way to check is to attach a scan tool and check in the computer for an RPM signal (running) and a VSS signal while driving.

I have a Trek Lime bike with automatic shifter and it doesn't shift up quickly enough especially when riding slowly.


The automatic shifter mechanism on these bikes is driven by centrifugal force of weights near the rear axle. As they spin, they expand and move you to a higher gear. Although it's not a precise relationship, the mechanism is designed to shift to a gear that will give you a pretty constant pedal rpm - probably around 50 rpm. - regardless of the speed that the bike is moving. This is because as you ride longer distances your legs are most efficient at pedaling at a fairly constant speed (bikers call this cadence). Bikers who ride a lot find that these automatic shifters tend to keep you pedaling too slow (they find 70 rpm or even higher to be a better cadence.) However, if the cadence is too fast for you, you could alter the shift pattern by adding a bit more weight to the weights that are already there. You could do this with fishing weights and wire ties. This would give you a slower cadence. But as you ride the bike more you will probably find that you will want to remove the extra weights. I suggest that you keep riding without adding the weights and you will find that the preset cadence becomes more comfortable with time. It is also easier on your knees to have a faster cadence with lower pedal pressure. Good luck, Al K

I have a 2001 flhtcui what are the ac reading coming from stator at 2.5k rpm 3k rpm and 3600 rpm. At 2000 rpm I get about 12 volts dash guage reading but at 3000 I get 13.5 to 14 at lower rpm 2000 or so I...


The AC output of the stator should be 32-40 volts at 2000 RPM (16-20 per 1000 RPM). With the battery fully charged, your regulator should supply between 13.5 and 15.0 DC volts to the battery. This should be the reading you get on your voltmeter. It will vary depending on what lights and other equipment you have turned on. Sounds like everything is working fine to me. The gauge is reading the DC voltage at the battery while the engine is running. At 2000 RPM, 12 volts is a little low but, considering the accuracy of the gauge, as long as it doesn't fall below 12 volts, it's about right. You don't ride for extended periods at engine RPMs that low. Then at 3000 RPM, 14 volts is about right. If your bike never ran anymore than 12 volts, your battery would slowly go down. If it goes any higher than 15.0 volts, it will boil the battery. Usually, about 14.3 or so with no load on the system is about right.
