Buckndoe91,
A loud ticking noise in the upper end of the engine is probably a bad piston. If you are mechanically inclined you will be able to loosen the head bolts and take a peak at the top of the pistons. If you do take off the head be prepared to replace the gaskets even if the piston(s) is/are not bad. Also, make sure you are running the right spark plug. I have seen cases where people put to deep of a plug and it hits the top of the piston.

In any of these situations you should see a loss of power.

Good luck

What's the top end knock in my motor that im hearing when revved goes away but at idle yyou hear it this normal?

Hi Todd the following is today's menu:
1. Ticks and Taps in the top end are minor annoying sounds that usually signals a failed lifter or valves need adjusting.
2. Knocks in the top end are serious noises that usually signals a piston, wrist pin, or upper rod bushing no longer wants to play with the other children and you need a top end overhaul.
3. Knocks in the bottom end signals ***** is at your doorstep and you need to make financial arrangements for a complete engine overhaul. Good luck and have a nice day.

Loud ticking noise coming from motor

This is probably tappet noise from the top end of the engine. However you should have it looked at quickly as these engines had a severe problem with oil sludging, even when recommended services were done.
This caused all sorts of problems, so see if you can get it fixed before the engine develops something terminal.

Hi. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. You might have done some damage to the motor.
Please check your oil (LEVEL) and by all means change it too. The oil lubrecates parts like crank shaft, bearings and valves cams etc... All moving parts need oil.

WHIRLPOOL TOP LOAD WASHER MAKING GRINDING NOISE FOR AGITATION

When you put the motor in did you replace the coupler between the motor and transmission? When fixing the agitator you need to get the agitator repair kit, It has seals, dogs, thrust plate, cam bearing and seals. The upper agitator is supposed to move only in one direction to get the clothes to move down towards the agitator. Do not overload machine. I have one of these and after 12 years I finally had to install this upper repair kit because the upper agitator quit moving. You may have an agitate cam that is going bad inside the transmission

Ticking Noise in 01 Chevy Silverado 2500

if noise is higher pitched and coming in on valve time...(2wice for every revolution of motor..ie: faster)...then upper end pressure is down due to sludge, wear , lifter failure, valvespring failure, rocker stud lifting out of cylinder head (kinda common) cam bearings failing (very rare)..oil pump bypass stuck open..and a few other possibilities... respond and we will go over lower end sound (deeper ,slower) and see what identifies your issues .... miles
