Turn mixture screw all the way in, don't screw hard in (Gentle) could damage screw seating, listen to engine when it starts to faulter gradually turn screw out, listening to the engine sound till she is running smooth on tickover. The problem with leaving bikees sitting for extended periods is that the gas deteriorates and evaporates from the carb, leaving varnish like deposits that block up the small passages in the pilot passages that supply fuel at idle speeds.
If the condition is bad enough where the pilot screw is entirely blocked, you'll most likely need to disassemble it to clean out the deposits, because without any fuel flowing through at all, the chemicals like Seafoam won't do much.
Remove the pilot screw and using a strand of wire from something like a bread tie or thin wire from a multistranded wire, carefully poke out the deposits until clear. Check the float needle and clean as needed, and reassemble. The mixture settings shouldn't require readjustment once free flow is restored.
