My 2004 Tahoe is making a squeaking noise in the front dash on the driver's side. It squeaks when we are driving and it gets louder when we hit bumps. It sounds like something rubbing together. when its raining, the rubbing doesnt occur and there is no squeaking noise. we have tried greasing under the hood and taking the dash apart and can not find where this noise is coming from.

SOURCE: struts were replaced but there is still squeaking in front

possible sway bar links, strut bearing plates (they sit on top of the strut), ball joints, tie rod ends. If the you can make it squeek by pushing up and down on the front, have someone do this while trying to narrow where the noise is coming from.

SOURCE: 05 XL-7 I changed my old belts (with no squeaking)

Take a bar of soap at touch it on the side of belt when it is running. Becareful!!! or spray some WD40 on it. Should stop it. If not it must be something wrong with whatever it is running. If that is a serpentine belt spray it. Soap is good on v-belts.

SOURCE: squeaking sound from shock absorbers

ball joints won't squeak like that; they make a popping noise when they're bad. it is very common for shocks to get water in them and start squeaking, and it's usually a horrible screeching squeak. The only way to get rid of the squeak is to change out the shocks. Hope this helped.

My 2001 xterra started making a weird sound between 20 and 35 mph. It sounds like there is a leak in some pressure system.

Common Car Noises and Their Likely Causes Noise More Details Likely Cause Fixing It Clicking noise while turning Starts faint, gradually becomes more noticeable until very loud Failed outer CV joint (constant velocity joint) due to torn boot (most likely) or old age Replace either the whole axle assembly (recommended) or the outer CV joint Water pump noises Difficult to diagnose because of water pump's location Noise usually caused by damage to the bearings in failed water pump Only cure is replacing it. If possible do it at the same time as a timing belt replacement to cut down on labor costs Squeak or squeal from an engine belt Loud, high-pitched squeak or squeal Belts either need adjustment or replacing If belts only squeak when damp, they probably just need adjustment. If they squeak constantly, they probably need to be replaced Exhaust heat shield noises Rattle that you hear when car is idling Damaged heat shield Replace heat shield

Mazda protege makes a squeaking noise when I start driving?

If your Mazda Tribute's engine has a rumbling noise when you start it, this is most likely from the drive belt. You will need to replace it.

Squeaking from driver side front tire

Tie rod ends, ball joint, or Upper strut bearing. An alignment shop would give you an estimate for the repair. You can borrow tools to install the bigger stuff at most Autoparts stores. But for all of these repairs you should get an alignment after replacing any one of these parts.

I have a sqeaking noise from the front end. We thought it may be a u-joint, but the service center checked it out and could not find it. U-joints all checked out OK. Located in WI. The colder it gets, the...

Even if the joints appear to be OK, often they run dry and are rusted inside. Unfortunately you cannot see that unless you remove the axle and visually check them out.
You have universal joints in there? I thought they began using c/v joints right around 2000. Check that the brake pad sensors are not hitting the rotors as well that can make a squeaking noise. Before taking anything apart, try to determine which side the noise is on.

I hear a squeak noise on the driver side front tire dont know if its the tire or rod

the easy whay to fine this out is to put the spare tiyer on and drive it
if it still squeaks it could be the disk pad binding up a little on the disk
wip them both out on both sides and apply some copper ease to the back of the pads making sure they can slide easly in there holders
the next time your driving and you here this squeaking noise jut apply a very little presher on the foot brake to push the pads onto the disks if it stops the squeak its pads
