SOURCE: whats rpm should my idle be at for my 85 suzuki gs 700e

I have a 97 honda cbr. Truthfully. Its up to you. I keep mine idled a lil high because its an older bike and tends to slowly sputter out when cold. But I find myself turning it down at stoplights every now and then. So really its your choice. But originally it should idle at 700 to 900 rpm. Thats hundred not thousand lol.

You need to go thru the carb.s again. Looking closely for very small holes in any of the jets. Next will be to sync the carb.s together.

Why does my Infinity Q45 idle at 1500 rpm when every thing is connected and there are no vacuum leaks?

If the motor is cold it will have a higher idle. If the battery has a low charge, the computer will tell the motor to rev higher to get the alternator pushing out higher voltage to charge it.

1999 3.0 ford ranger knocking at idle only

It sounds like a valve or valve lifter issue. First check and make sure the oil livel is where it needs to be. Then, I would let it idle for a few minutes and see if the knock goes away when it warms up a little (still idling). If not, its a bit more in the advanced stages of a valve or valve lifter going bad. Either way, I would change the oil with some high quality synthetic oil and get a filter with a non drainback valve (k&n or Mobil 1 has them for sure). Those attempt to keep the oil in the top half of the motor when you shut it off. I would always let your car run for a minute (longer in winter) before you drive it to get the oil pumped up and circulating.

the idle is controlled by the computer and the idle speed motor if the idle is too low the first thing you should do is check for a vacume leak as this will directly effect the idle or revs as you say

Will not start when hot? 1985 XV 750 virago yamaha

Clean air filter and set sparkplug gaps at 0.8mm. Replace if overly dirty. Without using throttle or choke at all, set idle at 1000 revs using idle adjuster and then turn air mixture screws in or out to find the higher revs. Reset the idle adjuster back down to 1000 revs. If problem not fixed, move the throttle needles up one notch on each carby. (the link below has an exploded view of the carburetor and name of parts for reference) Failing this you maybe in for a top end service as the valve seats, cam faces or compression rings maybe at their wear limits.
Goodluck and Cheers.

Slight knocking noise at idle

Ive always though mine was a bit noisy at idle, from the day I picked it up new.
Keep changing the oil regularly, check the valve clearances, if its starting to get a few miles on it may require a cam chain.
If it doesnt get worse and the bike runs well, and the knock is not there at higher rpm, it might not be a problem.
It could be simple like the crank balancer which is not going to work properly until is has a few revs.
A little hard to diagnose without hearing it sorry

1992 ford f150 xlt- when first started idle jumps from very low to very high repeatedly until warm. then idle is high

try un-plugging the IAC motor, then start it,if it idles low and stays there then replace the IAC motor----if no change then you may have a knock in the engine and the knock sensor is telling the computer to change the timing to compensate for spark knock due to low grade fuel,so it advances the timing back and forth due to too high of rpm then too low and the computer doesnt know how to smoothen it out that fast, but eventually does. The check engine light would usually come on in this case

I bought a 1979 GS 750 yesterday. The engine seems fine when first started, but after a few minutes begins to rattle from the top end. The noise disappears over 2000 rpm. Can you help please?

I have a 1977 GS750 and I found that the valves begin to make noise when the valve shims need replacing. You might see if this is similar in your manual for your machine.

The engine knocks at higher rpm, only at high rpms

First no matter what check the oil level and then if it's a high rev tapping you need to allow the oil to flow through the engine block to try to coat and settle your valves.

But if it's really " knocking " sounds like your lifters and rocker arms are allowing your piston rods to clatter and that needs to be looked into fast.

Low power stumble at idle to low rpm

try placing the reed spacer between .reed assembly & cylinder, also try an adjustable ignition stator plate, set at +4, k & n air filter, open air box.replace T.O.R.S. eliminator system w/ a cap & cable, and idle air screw install kit, also a pipe tuned for more torque(bottom -end/mid range) blasters dont have a lot of power on bottom end and the engine needs to rev to hit power band.cylinder porting,240 bigbore kits, & +4mm stroker crank assemblies are good performance options.

Engine knocking.

Hi,my 92 prado started making a knocking sound recently,we couldn't pin it down to one spot in the engine.
The knocking was constant at low revs and then disapeared.
Turned out to be the tourque converter knob had bust of and eventually destroyed the fly wheel and the transmission pump.
Definatley check under top cover and also drop off the sump to check for loose nuts etc.
hope this helps.
