I am not 100% on this one but I have owned several newer models 06 09 and 2010 and they all had cut out switches or kill switches if clutch wasn't pulled in or if stand was down they would not be able to start... So called safety devices they were called but damn annoying I felt no doubt you feel the same they all could be bypassed but in my experience bikes and their electrics should never be altered unless essential or your a master electrician
I am assuming your bike runs and starts well with clutch in and in neutral and with stand up ??
maybe ring your Kwaka dealer to confirm as I said I not certain when these safety switches started to be installed

JUST REPAIRED BROKEN WIRE LEADING TO MY KICKSTAND BIKE WILL START IN NUTRAL BUT SHUT OFF WHEN PUT IN GEAR ALSO IM HAVING PROBLEM WITH BATTERY NOT RECHARGING ON THE BIKE

Your bike apparently has a safety mechanism where the engine shuts off while in gear, if the side stand is extended. The wire you fixed may not have been fixed properly. There is a switch at the end of that wire which senses the kick stand position. See if that switch is working properly. You can bypass the switch by shorting the wire, but remember it's a safety mechanism and it's better to keep it fixed.

Only thought Is the Kick stand switch
Is a kickstand on or was there one ever on this bike? If the switch thinks the kickstand is down it will stall out as soon as you kick it into gear.

1997 Suzuki Intruder VS800...starts, runs, stalls

Hi, Anonymous the ignition circuit cut-off system comprising of the side stand switch, clutch switch and neutral switch has the following functions:
a. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is up, but the clutch lever is not pulled.
b. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, but the side stand is still down.
c. It cuts the running engine when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is moved down.
Periodically check the operation of the ignition circuit cut-off system according to the following tests.
With the engine turned off:
1. Move the side stand down.
2. Make sure that the engine stop switch is set to "RUN"
3. Turn the key to "ON".
4. Shift the transmission into the neutral position.
5. Push the start switch if the engine does not start the neutral switch may be faulty.
With the engine still running:
6. Move the side stand up.
7. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
8. Shift the transmission into gear.
9. Move the side stand down if the engine does not stall you may have a faulty side stand switch.
After the engine has stalled:
10. Move the side stand up.
11. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
12. Push the start switch if the engine does not start you may have a faulty clutch switch.
This check is most reliable if performed with a warmed-up engine.

I can crank bike in neutral runs fine but when i put it in gear motor shuts down acts like it locks up

It sounds like your kick stand switch is stuck. There is a switch that senses if the kickstand is up or down and the plunger can get stuck. This is likely the problem.

I have a 2001 kawasaki 125 eliminator shuts off

If it dies when put into gear then its the side-stand switch (stand is down or switch not working)
If it dies when the clutch lever is released then either it was released too quickly with not enough revs, the engine doesnt have enough power to pull away or possibly the clutch switch is working in reverse

Good Luck
Hope this helps.

I start my bike and the engine runs but when i put itinti gear the engine dies. why is this?

I'm not familiar with this particular model but let's see what we can do.

If the bike lurches forward when you put it into gear, you clutch is either not releasing for some reason or the clutch plates are stuck. In the case of the stuck clutch, you'll need to disassemble and free up the clutch pack.

Since I can't find much on your particular model, it appears to have lights on it. If this is the case, it may have a kickstand position switch. If the kickstand is down and you put it into gear, the engine is shut off. This is a safety feature on some bikes. Try raising the kick stand prior to putting the bike into gear.

Good Luck!!

1991 fzr 600 no spark

you dont need your clutch to start the bike in neutral, the only wire goin near your clutch should be for your horn. the clutch is cable activated on the fzr, if you have no spark check your basics, fuse's relays and such. on the fzr there is two sets of fuses the four under your seat and then relays and one single fuse under the back plastic (left hand side if sitting on the bike). then the next easiest would be to check your wire's they need tune up's just like cars. other than that you are basically left with the digital ignitor or your coils, if you have power goin to your coils what about after them ??? Also the kickstand safety is only when the bike is put into gear it will shut off the bike if stand is down.
