SOURCE: replaced throttle cable on pw50 but can't seem to get it adjusted

If I understand your problem correctly this may help. There should be a spring just a bit smaller diameter than the slide that mounts between the top of the slide and the bottom of the carb cap. No spring means no snap-back. I am assuming there are no kinks in the cable and the cable was routed correctly when installed. Lots of times if the cable is not routed properly the gas tank will "stretch" the cable when the tank is re-mounted. Route the cable properly and the problem goes away..... As far as the slack in the cable, there is a an adjusting screw on the top of the carb (where the cable ends) and an adjuster screw at the hand throttle also where the cable ends. Some bikes have an extra adjuster mid cable but I don't think yours does, (working from memory here). If none of the above work then my guess is that the parts counter handed you the wrong part.

SOURCE: 1981 Yamaha MX upper replacement throttle cable.

Yes, take the cap off the carb and disconnect the cable then do the oil pump cable. The connector tube should then come apart for upper cable replacement. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Broke a throttle cable - can't see how to re-attach the new cable to the twist grip.

You have not listed your model.
Generally, remove two or three screws holding the right hand control module together. Remove old cable, install new cable in housing, and cable end in throttle tube. Reassemble.

I have a homelite UT20772 trim n edge the flex shaft broke--How do I remove it (the broken end ) from inside the housing/

Unbolt the torx scews that hold the flex drive tube to the front engine cover. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle plate on the carburetor.Move the tube away from the engine and if there are wires going to a STOP switch, they will have to be disconnected as well. The throttle cable will pull through an opening in the engine's front cover when you pull the tube with the throttle trigger on it away from the motor. Remove the tube completely. If it is the single body tube, turn it upside down and shake it or just grab the end of the drive and pull it out of the tube. Make sure you lube the new one well with white lithium grease before you install it.
If the machine is the split boom shaft design, entire replacement of the drive and tube may be necessary. It all depends on the extent of the damage.
