Question about 2006 Triumph Thruxton 900

1 Answer

'06 Triumph Thruxton 900 -The problem is: after starting up, it idles & revs up a few second (3-4) then shuts off, like the ignition was turned off. Then won't restart until a few hours have passed. Already checked fuel flow, carburator thru fuel bowl, is ok. Replaced fuel, spark plugs, battery & checked connections. If at all possible please call me at 904 461 5706. Thank you.

5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corrroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Water or dirt in the fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. . Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
10. Fuel tank empty.
11. Gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.

Need to remove the carbs and clean and adjust them. Sounds like you got a pluged jet or air flow port.

Check your coils and plugs. Both of these can break down when exposed to heat. It can sometimes cause a circuit to open when it expands with heat , and close again when it all cools.

2004 triumph thruxton 900 won't start. Has does not have spark. then it does have spark then it starts.already checked ingintion, igniter and coil. If you mess with the key enough it will start but...

Dont you just hate the intermitent faults? However messing with the ignition should have no bearing on the fault, other than the connection plate inside the switch has become corroded or worn away, have you removed or replaced the switch? Ifyou remove the switch and dismantle the base carefully to check for ware or corrosion, this can normaly be repaired by using a file or some heavy sandpaper to clean the contact plate, igniter units either work or they dont,

Trident 900 - No Acceleration

The only times my 'dent had no acceleration, it wasn't firing on all 3. Easy check: start the bike, let it idle for a couple minutes, spray water from a spray bottle on each header. Chances are, there'll be a cold header from a cylinder not firing due to a bad coil.
