Question about 2003 Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa

Bike runs fine when idling but when rapidly accelerating at about 6000 rpms the bike cuts off. When the rpms get lower the bike comes back on.

    Sounds like a problem with the carburetors. Try cleaning them out.

Check air box Do not alter box make sure nobody has cut holes in it If so cover them up with tin foil tape Check fuel filter MOPAR KENNY

This sounds like you may have a vacuum leak, look for something rubber that is being affected by the heat. You can spray brake cleaner (carb cleaner eats paint) and listen for RPM change. Push and pull on any hoses and rubber parts, again listening for RPM change.

If is runs better with full choke, then the bike is lean, check for air leaks at the carb manifold, vacumn cracked hoses, non standard exhausts, perhaps the mufflers have rusted out while sitting

Your lower rpms are controled by the mixture screw, pilot jet, accelerator pump and the slide needle. So your problem is probably in one of these-though racing 4 strokes are known to have a little stumble at the bottom, but not what you're describing. I'll have to assume the shop has the pilot jet clean and the mixture screw adjusted properly.(roughly 1.5 turns out)

First, check your accelerator pump. Remove the carb enough to be able to look inside the throat, but leave the cables hooked up. Work the throttle a few times and make sure that there is a small squirt of fuel in the throat of the carb each time you twist the throttle. If not, your accelerator pump is clogged or damaged.

If everything is fine there, the next likely problem is the needle adjustment. It's mounted in the slide. Once you remove the needle, you'll see a small clip around it. Try moving this clip up one notch. This will lower the needle and slightly delay the fuel feed from the main. If this fuel comes in too soon, it will cause a way rich condition and cause a bog off idle.

Outside of carb issues, valve adjustment(too tight) can make for a rough idle and hard starting.

That is quite normal - these bikes run very hot and will typically reach temp where fan kicks in (103 deg C) while bike is sitting at idle, even if not particularly hot weather. Needs good airflow through the rad to keep the temp down. 
Fortunately, when fan comes on it lowers the temp quite quickly.

Bike trouble


Yes! You will open those things up, and they will probably look pretty clean, but the problem with your carbs is in the Idle circuit - too small for you to see into. If you do a search of carb cleaning or related topics, you'll see that alot of folks with cab problems try to clean their carbs ... only to have to open them up again due to improper cleaning (They are difficult to clean properly, require alot of patience) So, I would suggest that you have them cleaned professionally, or at least buy good carb dip to get them really clean. Spray cans of carb cleaner are worthless. Might as well wash em with dish soap.
