I have a yamaha 100cc motorcycle, frame number is jya3t0t09kc200842. Engine number 320-200842. Could you please tell me what year and model this is. Many thanks Garry Toy

1991 is the year if the number was copied correctly
It sems you will need at least one more number to find the correct information
You had listed 16 digit serial number and 17 digits are needed to retreive the correct information'
The tenth digit is for the year which you show the letter K

Lots of maintenance parts are available for older Yamaha units but no dealer is going to stock them waiting for someone to walk in the door looking for 35 year old parts for everything Yamaha ever made. That's what the big Yamaha warehouses are for. Call your local dealer or try Rock River Powersports in Wisconsin, they run Yamaha's MX racing program. If they can't get it, it's not available.

Just bought a yz250 , checked the vin and it comes out at a 2004 frame, the problem is i want to know the engine year which is stamped 5CU engine year is what i need to find out please.
The frame number is the Vehicle Identification Number. If the engine is the original engine, then the engine is a 2004. If it is not the original engine, the engine numbers will not identify what year the engine is. The only identifier is the frame number. Engine numbers are useless.

Older models have the build date and model on the steering head even a 73 will have the build date and the VIN and the country it's built in. not knowing what era your bikes in all *** bikes have the CC of the engine on the front of the block under the fins near the base of the cyclinder 249 cc, 348cc 174 cc 123cc, 99cc, 49cc If you tell me what cyclinders it has does it have an extenal oil tank does it have numbers anywhere like YM1 YDS3 . An AS1 would be a 100cc twin 2 stroke with an extenal oil tank and upsweeped pipes.

You don't decode it. It is only a production run series number. Mororcycles are like cars in that respect. It is the frame number, AKA the "VIN number", is what carries all the information. Call a dealer with the frame number and he can tell you year, paint color, specific model and more. They may have a problem if the bike is too old. Yamaha changed to a newer code system a few years back.

Find the model production year, usually found on the same plate as the vin. Then add one year. For instance if the bike was produced in 2001, then its a 2002 model.
