Just purchased a 94 Sunbird SE for my son (today) Started fine. Drove for 15 minutes. Shut it down and it sat for 1 hr. Started again after registration and insurance. Drove for 10 minutes. Stopped once for 2 minutes. Started again drove for another 5 minutes. Shut off. Restarted to re park and every time the car was put into gear (P or D) the engine died. 20 minutes later started the car and drove. Car sat for 2 hours, started and drove for 10 minutes, no problem. Started and driven again after 10 minute meeting. Drove approx 20 minutes. Sat for 2 hours. Started fine and drove 20 minutes. Car died in intersection. Unable to get car going. Would start every time but as soon as in gear the "Check Engine" "Check Guages" lights would come on. No matter how high the RPMs as soon as it went into either D, R, 1, 2 the engine died. Had it towed home (20 minutes) and once it was home started fine and was able to move the car. Not the best first day car experience. Suggestions?

Take it back to where you got it and make them refund your purchase price. If they refuse and you finianced it go to them, There a law called "The Lemon Law" that makes it unlawful to sell something like that. Sounds like you sure bought one. Don't do anything to it just get hold of the place where you bought it and tell them to come get their junk out of your yard! dhgill1949

I have had battery and alternator checked, both are good. Battery was dead, jumped car, started and ran fine. Drove 30 minutes, shut off and sat for 2 hours. Started fine again, just went to gas station...

Most likely you have a bad battery. The second option is that you have a faulty wiring and there is a constant load that takes a lot of power, but it does not make a short circuit. Check the electrical relays, maybe it's in them.

Runs for 30 mins, afetr shut down it will not start (does not crank just a click click)

If the starter motor is close to the exhaust and no heat shield then probably starter is getting to hot to work. I had this problem on mine not a Mazda tho, u can either wrap the exhaust which is what I did or get a heat shield to cover stater motor

I have a 2005 scionxb an dit won't always start. It doesn't make any noise when you turn the key. The battery is fine. The radio will not come on but the windows work.

There might be a ground wire loose or any of the positive wires coming off the battery might also be loose or coroded. That can also be part of your prior fuse problem. If its the same fuse that blows, that could be where your entire problem existes.

Running fine and then stalled on freeway. after about 10 minutes started up and drove fine

I have experienced this symptom. I'm going to hazard a guess that your problem is the same as mine. A faulty electronic ignition module.

Try cleaning the fuel pump filter. Under the seat behind the driver lift the carpet and you will find a round cover with six screws remove the cover. The fuel pump is directly below unscrew the retaining round plate and remove the pump. At the base of the pump is a small filter if it is covered in black muck that's your problem. clean and replace. job takes about 10 mins good luck. please let me know how you got on!
