My car is using i lot of petrol but it looks like its going in the oil what can be the problem

Have you cleaned the Carburettor .

Go to a motor store and get some Carburettor cleaner spray can

and some Petrol System cleaner (a small bottle ).

Get some old rags like shirts or tshirts etc.

Take the Air filter pipe off the carb.

Spray a little carb cleaner onto the rag.

Wipe the inside of the carb with the old rag making sure not to open the small flap plates which may open slightly to one side.

Once the crap is removed from the outer section of the carb , using your fingers turn the carb opening & closing mechanism so the flaps are open so you can gain access , ( do not put too much pressure on them as you only need them open not broken off.) .

Get a big piece of rag and jam it to the back of the carburettor to stop any loose crap to fall inside.Making sure you can pull it out a little later.

Do the same as earlier and spray the inside of the Carburettor unit and put a little on the cloth. ( trying not to use too much or the old greased up stuff will go back into the Carburettor whichyou dont want. )

Clean as much gunk and degrease from the inside of the Carburettor as best as you can. To look as new as possible. I found using a small old paintprush helped by wrapping the rag around it and rubbing the gunk off the inside of the carburettor walls.

Try and remove any small bits of gunk which have fallen into the Carburettor.

Remember to pull out the rag you stuffed to the back of the carburettor earlier.Being very carefull not to damage the Carburettor flaps and trying not to get any small bits of grease fallen off down into the carburettor body itself.

.Leave the Air pipe off for now making sure it is clear whilst you start the engige. Once the engine has started give it a few good revs on the accelerator. to try and clear any loose bits .

Turn off the enginge , Take a very small amount of the Petrol system cleaner and spill a very small amount into the inside of the carburettor. Leave for a minute and Start the engine again and give it a few more revs on the accelerator.

Checking all items used and rags are removed from the engine area.

Replace the air pipe back and secure back onto the Carburettor unit.

This should help the car run a lot smoother as there is less buildup of grease and oil in the Carburettor system.

I have done the above on several of my Old and New cars after several years with great success.

All you are doing is cleaning all the gunk from spent fuel from the inside of the carburettor unit making the intake cleaner and better.

How to fit new fuel line to a Flymo maxi trim 430

Removing old fuel line/disassembly
  • Empty petrol tank
  • Use a hooked/bent piece of wire or similar to get fuel line and filter out of petrol tank filler hole
  • Remove fuel filter from end of fuel line
  • Remove air filter housing
  • Remove choke control/ plate from carburettor
  • Ease old fuel line from carb. inlet. And clean inlet tube if necessary
  • Gently but firmly pull old fuel line through hole in base of tank
Fitting new fuel line
  • the new fuel line has too big a diameter to fit through the hole in the base of the fuel tank.
  • To get round this I heated the end of the tube with a lit match (but a blow torch or gas ring would do) until it was soft enough to fashion into a point- take great care the plastic obviously gets very hot and could burn ***** flesh. The tapered end you form should be at least 1cm long. Allow to cool
  • Trim off the end of the tapered point if necessary
  • My next problem was to get the tapered end through the tiny hole inside the fuel tank. To help with this I took the innards out of a standard biro then put the fuel line through the empty tube with the tapered end projecting from where the ballpoint used to be. Push the tapered end through the hole inside the tank.(a torch was useful here to help see inside the tank)
  • Pull the fuel line through from below the tank until you have enough to push on to the fuel inlet on the carb.
  • Cut the tapered end off the tube and push onto the fuel inlet .
  • Cut the other end of the tube so there is enough length to reach all parts of the fuel tank.
  • Attach fuel filter and push it into petrol tank
  • Refit choke plate and air filter housing

The fuel tank had about 10 litres of petrol and by mistake 20 litres of diesel was pumped into the tank.

hi,
need to find the fuel line going to the fuel rail on the engine, remove that, get a spare piece of hose and run it into a bucket and turn the ignition on and run it out of gas. If the computer will only allow a small amount of gas then you could over ride the fuel pump by finding the relay for it and jump the relay with a jumper wire. you may have to go to autozone.com and find the fuel pump wire/relay colors there, its free to sign up at autozone. if this is uncharted territory for you go back to autozone and study tank removal and drop the tank. have a fire extingusiher handy or the hose. if unsure take it in to your local mechanic. If you take it to the dealer then they will really let you have it..

I mistakingly put some diesel in my petrol swift

You don't say how much diesel you put in or how much petrol was in tank in the first place. If the amount of diesel is less than 5 % of the total then you may try filling tank with petrol and keep topping up to dilute the diesel. The best fix would be to drain fuel tank completly and refill with petrol. If tank has a drainplug , this will be easy but if no drain plug you will have to remove tank from vehicle to empty it.

My sst25 starts hard and stalls...seems to be sensitive to engine position before stalling...stalls when throttle is opened and when just runnung

Had the same problem with my SST25 and after looking further, noticed something rattling around in the fuel tank. The fuel filter had fallen off of the small fuel line (actually the small fuel line had broken). Removed filter from tank and small piece of broken line from filter connector, and re-connected to small fuel line.

El fuel pump

IT might be either in the boot on top of tank OR on the rear of tank,
If on rear then drain at least 1/2 the tank out before undoing the clip ring which turns to the l/h/ to undo use a small piece of copper or brass or even good piece of timber but not steel ..
Undo and take out pump and filter To check pump wipe clean and dry and let it dry out for about 1/2 hr before fitting battery power to it for checking and if dont sound good straight away or the filter is dirty then new one is the answer..
REPLACE IT in the reverse of removal and make sure that the petrol pipes are fitted tight.
When you take the pipes off the back of pump then fit something in pipes to stop the loss of petrol .
