Question about 2000 Yamaha Royal Star Venture

1 Answer

I have a 1993 veture royal, and after starting it up(after winter storage) it started up, ran for about an hour, then started to miss, the tach would go to down to zero, but the bick keeps running but badly. at 3000 rpms, ans it seems to be missing on one cylinder. If you back off the throttle, the tach works again till you try to add throttle then at 2000 to 3000 rpms it repeats. it also backfires when the trottle is advanced. the warning light is on as well.

This"new" translation JUNK fuel is a real problem-did you use marine stabile when you put it up? If not you need to drain the fuel and change the plugs and get a can of SEAFOAM and add some to your new gas to help clean up your fuel system. Good luck!

and plugs? What do the plugs look like now after running it again and putting in new ones? the next thing would be the coil IMO but?

One more thing it may be is the intake boots on the carbs. You can test that with starting fluid by starting the bike and spraying a little(not too much)! around the boots between the block and carbs-if it picks up and races you need new ones.

Was an occational intermitant miss getting worse now its stalling and missing so bad the tach goes to zero i didnt think i was going to make it home

Sounds like a plug wire or cracked coi arcing over and shorting out your tach, take a spray bottle of soapy water, start spraying plug wires and coils, you will see the arc in the water.

I have a 1993 volvo 240 ran out of gas fuel pump and filter are less than 1 year old i put gas into it and it cranks and want to start but it doesn't. i put 6 gallons of gas any advice

It depends on how far you ran it out of fuel. If you ran it until it would not run any more and then tried to start it again several times; you may need to bleed and prime the fuel system to get it started. You start at the line coming from the tank and move toward the fuel injectors. You have to loosen a fitting and have someone pump fuel until the air bubbles stop and then tighten. A friend once worked for two hours to get his tractor started after his daughter ran it out of fuel. This is why they recommend that you do not run a fuel injected car out of fuel and if you do to turn it off as soon as it starts to miss badly.

I just got a '95 Z28 that sputters at start up. Give it gas, it wants to stall. Let off tach jumps up, do this a couple times and it eventually clears up. It ran out of gas the day before.

It sounds like you might have a clogged fuel filter or injector. Especially since you said it ran out of gas recently. I would start by replacing the filter and see how it does with that. After the filter add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Give it a couple of days and see if that helps.

I winterized my bike last winter. I drained the fuel tank on my zx 750h. ran the motor to empty lines and now i refilled the tank but it wont start. what am i missing. It fired and ran for abou 10 seconds....

try new spark plugs. and for next winter you're better off not draining everything. best thing is add some fuel stabilizer and run it a few minutes once in a while. empty lines tanks and carbs attract moisture.

Winter storage solution for a 2008 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe

you can take out the plugs - inject a little engine oil, crank the engine 5-6 times and reinstall, support the bike so the weight is off the tires, drain the gas and spray the tank with a rust preventative....

No spark from coil

possicle bad coil or possibly bad crank sensor, when cranking look at tach and see if needle moves up a bit, if not more than likely crank sensor
