Question about 2010 Suzuki Boulevard C90

Open Question

Problem: I have some oil leaking form the top of my engine on the rear, left side. It does not form a drip or fall to a lower level of the engine. I can not tell where it is coming from. Does the C90 have a crankcase breather that could still be leaking oil, even after fixing a problem of too much oil in crankcase. I overfilled my crankcase on my suzuki c90 by about 1 quart. Owners manual called for 4.5 quarts with oil and filter change, so that's what I added. It actually only needs about 3.5 quarts. I ran it for about 100 miles with the excess oil and the bike died on me at high RPMs on a 15 mile trip on the interstate. when I lowered the RPMs or restarted the bike, the engine would run again with no issues until I reached high RPMs again. I think this may be because the plugs were fouled. I took it easy on the return trip- keeping the RPMs lower with no issues. I drained the oil, got the appropriate amount of oil added. I also changed the spark plugs as they were very fouled and changed the air filter as it had an oil smell. I also wiped out the inside of the air box as it had a light film of oil I would like to know if the oil I'm still seeing slowy seeping out from an unknown location could be from the crankcase breather?

SOURCE: backfiring

backfiring means you have an air leak or a lean mixture. Look for leaks at the header pipes or perhaps a crack in the exhaust.
Cold air getting into the exhaust is usually what causes the backfire noise.
You may have a lean engine running situation but the bike would have other issues besides the backfire.
Let me know if you are having any other issues or if it just the backfire.

SOURCE: how many quarts of oil in suzuki C90

My 2007 C90t which is the same motor as yours requires 4 1/2 quarts of 10/40wt.
Stick with Suzuki brand oil btw. When I changed to Amsoil, I developed a problem.

This tube comes from the Air Box. If the oil level is to high in the crankcase, the PVC port, which is located in between the "V" of the two cylinders is actually vacuuming the oil right out of the crankcase, and it is collecting in the air box. When enough oil collects in the air box, ti runs down the overflow tube, and drips out behind the rear wheel. To check the oil level, put a 2X4 under the side stand, make sure the bike is level, (a helper to steady the bike is a good idea here) look at the sight glass on the lower right side of the engine, down by the water pump. The oil level should be 1/2 way up the sight glass with the engine cold, and not running. If the oil level is higher than 1/2 way up, drain some of the oil out until you can see the oil level read 1/2 way on the sight glass. These engines only take a little over 3 qts. of oil with a new filter. If you are putting in 4 qts. of oil, it is too much.

Hi i have a 1994 dodge caravan it is leaking oil can this be fix im worry that we would have to save money for a van for my kids thanks

The Chrysler minivan products all had leaking problems. I have had 5 or 6 different Dodge or Plymouth minivans from 88 to 99. How bad is it. The most common thing is Valve cover leaks. Front and rear seals in the engine leak as well as the oil pan gasket. If its leaking a little bit at a time open the hood and look at the front and rear of the engine. Do you see grease and oil that has gone down the sides of the engine? Do you see a lot of grease on the engine with some clean streaks going through it. You may be able to see where its leaking from. If you know someone that knows what their doing have them change the leaky gasket/s. If not you can probably have it repaired for less than buying another van unless other things are seriously wrong with the van.
Hope this helps... Dale

I have a 2001 BMW 330Ci..It has been dripping oil for about six months now. Several mechanics have had trouble locating the source of the leak. My oil engine light comes on for 30 seconds every time I...

Dear,
Check th below:
1)Check if the torx screw -(it's a screw that allow you to drop out the Engine oil)- is not dripping out any oil.
2) check if the crank shaft sealing is ok.
3) check if the oil pan is cracked or not (especially if you made any accident).
4) check if the oil filter is mounted properly and sealed very well.
5) if the oil is not dipping out of your car but it disappear after short period that means that your engine rings should be replaced or the engine needs an overhaul.

My 04 sportster 883 is a converted 1200, seems to leak a quite a bit of oil from the vent tube on the left side of the bike. I get oil residue on my rear rim, belt guard, and unsightly drips and residue...

Unless Harley has changed something, I'm not familiar with a vent tube on the left side of a Sportster. I've always seen the vent tube coming out of the cam chest on the right side of the bike. Even the transmission vent came up and over to just behind the oil tank.

On your Sportster, make sure that you're not overfilling the oil tank. There are two lines on the dipstick. When checking your oil, the top line is 'FULL HOT" and the lower line is 'FULL COLD". Keep the level between the two lines when hot. As long as you can see oil on the dipstick, ride the bike far enough to heat up the oil and then check the level.

Otherwise, trace the hose back to it's source and tell me exactly where it comes from.

Good Luck
Steve

Procedures to change engine oil on 1997 Audi A4

the long answer is...put engine flush in oil, run for about 1 hour, switch off/remove key, then remove splash guard from under the engine (best done when car on ramps)then remove oil filler cap and drain plug on sump(oil pan).whilst draining into an empty can with the side cut out(drip tray) locate oil filter and punch a hole in the side of it with a screwdriver, and unscrew it.
Wipe oil onto the rubber seal of the new filter and screw onto carrier.hand tight only.
then replace sump plug washer(copper/fibre)and replace using a 6"long ring spanner and do up tight.
(max pressure of palm of hand)
put in about the same amount of oil that came out, replace oil filler cap and start engine.
check for any leaks, replace splash guard and lower car to level surface, turn off engine, leave for 60 secs, then dip for oil level and top up to midway on dipstick,
job done....
use 10/40 semi synthetic oil.

BMW 1995 318i - Car Running Hot

There is a blockage or leak in your cooling system. That may come in a few different forms:
Incorrectly installed thermostat
Water pump not functioning - you may see water dripping from the pump or a stain from the hole under the water pump.
Severely coroded hoses/coolant passages - if the fluid is brown and the inside of the radiator rusty
External leak - you would see fluid on the ground Internal leak - you would see steam/white smoke from the tail pipe or water in the oil (may look like chocolate milk or not), if the oil level is extremely high this would be a good indication
heater core bypassed
