Japanese bikes change things so often it gets near impossible to find direct replacments.
You may want to try klsupply.com (K&L Supply Co.). Back when I used them for older bikes they seemed to have a good selection of after market direct replacement parts.
You may also be able to look up OEM parts and numbers at Riva's web site (search "riva" or "riva motorcycle parts"). Its a dealer ship with a parts locater where you can view the microfishe and get part numbers.
Lastly you can also try Tucker Rocky. Its a wholesaler but that is one of the larger suppliers to the motorcycle parts stores.

What are the Valve lash spec's for a 1985 Kawasaki ZL900 Eliminator?

"Valve Clearance (when cold)" "Inlet: 0.13-0.18 mm" and that "Exhaust : 0.18-0.23 mm".
Careful when doing the valves .
on some bikes it changes the valve timing?
i'd be contacting your bike shop and ask.
Good luck...........

Air gap setting ignition coil

if you didnt adjust it you dont need to know
it is the gap between the rotor for the pickup coil and the coil pickup face
the ignition coil makes energy from the rotator to feed the spark plug

you need to tell us what is up
your question is incomplete and lacks details

1997 geo metro the pickup coil copper unwraps and wraps around the rotor this is the second time in a week first time changed the distributor with pickup coil not knowing only the pickup coil needed to be...

does changed mean, used, new or pro rebuilts (cardone?)?
the FSM is clear on this,
some suz, engines,
the distributor has a VR sensors.
if the gap is set wrong or left loose, bingo. death.
if its a hall sensor used on most after 1991 in USA,
then its bad bearings on the dizzy,
not posting photos so the reader can see ACTUAL.
damage unlimited only eyes on can tell what happened.
fixing cars is a hands on thing and eyes on and skills.
to ask for skill , for sure , here, photos are the only chance.
there are many metro forums why not use the real thing.?
bad distrib, dizzy
bad rotor
bad bearings
sensor gap wrong.
sensor loose.
what does copper, mean , you never side what item
ejected its cooper,?
the center of the sensor exploded,
the rotor cut it?
the jumper wires got loose? what?

Is it the correct one? Usually if something won't fit where it is supposed to, then you have the wrong bit.

If your question is how, you remove the distributor, then pull the shaft out to get access to the pickup coil in the bottom.

My 5 hp briggs stopped running. No spark. took recoil off to reveal a rotten coil with wires rotted off. cleaned off the flywheel and replaced the coil with one from Napa. The engine does not have points...

Did you set the Air Gap correctly, it should be .020 inch. If the Air Gap is correct and you cleaned the pickup magnets, you should be getting spark. I have different color coded plastic sheets of the correct thickness to set the Air Gap on different engines. You could use a use a side panel from a plastic soda bottle (Mt Dew, Pepsi, ect) Place it between the Flywheel and the Armature/Ign Coil. Allow the magnets on the Flywheel to pull the Armature/Ign Coil together and then tighten the Armature/Ign Coil bolts. Carefully turn the Engine while pulling the plastic from between the Armature/Ign Coil Pickups. The Armature/Ign Coil is now properly set.

Generall speaking for a gasoline engine to run you need 3 things. (1) Spark, (2) Gas and (3) Air.

I hope this is helpful. UAW 974

Check the distributor for cracks and check the rotor inside the distributor, it may be worn out.
