G'day Mark'
I had a look at the parts fisch for your bike-heres the link

It sounds like maybe it's choking for air.(restricted inlet)
Be sure that the piping to the airbox is not pinched(part no 13) & is not obstructed.
Also make sure that nothing is blocking covering the opening of these pipes.
I notice that the air box seems also to be the filter(bit of a crappy idea-I hope I'm wrong).
But if thats the case, I'd strongly suggest you replace it if its not been done recently.
You may also be able to get an idea of what is going on by removing your sparkplugs & see how they are burning.
Used plugs tell a story.
If there black & sooty it would suggest a rich mixture.(caused by blocked air filter?).
If they are bleached white in the porcilin part then maybe an air leak at the inlet tract(in front of carbs)could be the cause.
The GPZ 750-900R Kawasakis(which this motor is based on) had a tendancy to pop-off or open circuit the sparkplug caps All the time.(giving a weak spark) So you could check these.
Another thing- A blocked exhaust restricts maximum RPM but this is un-likely.
(Unless you are in Australia- A wasp called a mud wasp LOVE to block the ends & inside of exhausts-especially small exhaust outlets-GRRRR- no joke- On 4 motors just this week).

I'm not sure what else to suggest-
Check these things, & if you have no joy let me know & I'll try suggest what to do next.

I hope this has been somewhat helpfull
Kind regards Andrew Porrelli

I have just purchased a used 350 yamaha warrior quad and can not get it started I just bought a brand new battery and have checked all the terminals and proper conections any ideas where to go from here.

Engines are very simple, fuel, air, spark.
If the engine is getting fuel, make sure it is enough fuel to fill the carb.
If you are getting spark, make sure it is strong.
Replace the plug anyhow
Check to make sure the airfilter is clean.
Small dirt particles are going to clog the carb.
Take the carb off of the bike, dissassemble, and clean all passageways.
Usually this is not the case, but i have seen bikes so worn or out of repair that:
Valve clearance is out, and a valve adjustment is in need (very common), piston has a hole in it,, timing is out (due to cam chain tensioner failure), or something as simple as a rag left in the airbox/delivery tube. hope this helps John

I just purchased a 2001 zx6r and i put 1/3 seafoam and 2 gallons of fresh premium gas. carbs were cleaned 2 years ago. when i run it the rpm will get to about 6 or 7000 rpms but it dies out if you dont cut...

Sounds like fuel starvation, remove airbox lid and check the slides in the carbs are not stuck, this sometimes happens when the fuel in the carbs becomes old and forms a stickey bond between the needle and main jet diffuser, you may benefit from a complete overahaul of the carbs again, 2 years is a long time, and i would not find it unusual to do this anualy unless you continue to use the bike, remove the slides and check the diapram condition for holes, remove the mainjets clean, allso the pilot jets and clean them using a wire from a wire brush push through the jet twisting and pusshing, also blow out the holes the jet screws into, remove the float valves and clean them with some wire wool taking care not to damage the rubber tip, and the valve seating should also be cleaned,

Honda CB250 will not start. It will turn over and there is fire on the plugs and when I look at the plugs after trying, they are "wet" with fuel. What am I missing?

Valve clearance or camshaft timing. If you have no clearance on the intake valves at top dead center, then you will have no compression = no start.

RPM stall at 5000/6000

Definitely carb problems. Dieaphrams need to be checked and the carbs need to be synced.

I can't get my Fz750 to idle. Engine runs great above 2000 rpms. Will not run below 2000 rpms. Stalls. Have completely cleaned the carbs. Jets seem good. New Plugs. New fuel filter. Any ideas? Thanx

You need to sync the carbs after removing them it wont idle if they are out of sync.
When were the valve clearances last checked? It wont idle if they're out.
If you alter the valve clearances you shd sync the carbs after

Please mark this as helpful (if it has been!!)

954 fireblade splutters at 7000 rpm

1ST of all i think you should take your bike to another dealer to get it fixed as they should be able / confident mechanics to repair any problem.
But anyway have you checked the throttle position sensor ? of the fuel injector connections ?
just that water could of coroded the connectors.

Bike has no power up to 7000 rpm

check your gear ratio ie chain and sprokets if thay are to high of a ratio this will happen . as these bikes dont start to make power untill thay rev up hight . thay are tuned for top end revs and speed

Over fueling and backfireing through airbox

Your bike has a compression release if I recall correctly. Chances are that the compression release cable got stretched or kinked when the bike went down on the black ice. This means that the valves are not fully seated and THAT is probably why you now have the backfiring. As far as the carb floats go, chances are they are perfectly okay. If a float were stuck open then fuel would be leaking from the overfill tube. If the floats were stuck closed then the bike would not be running at all.
Check the compression cable and linkages for problems. Be certain the compression lever functions freely and properly. Also, check the carb cables. Be sure the carbs are balanced and in sync. Doing these things should fix the problem.
Please rate this solution.

Not starting backfiring through carb

check valve tappet clearance 1st., adjust to specs., do a leakdown test on top end w/ a set of leakdown guages, also take compression test. probally need a new spark plug & air filter too.sound like a leaking intake valve, probally requiring top end disassembly & repair.
