I'm an old school biker and know absolutely nothing about fuel injection but, if the fuel pump is making that much noise, I would change it out immediately. Fuel pumps are supposed to run so quiet as to be barely audible. This noise would lead me to think that it's has a bearing going bad and it's subject to complete failure at some point in time. When it does that, the bike dies wherever you're at. If I had any doubts, I'd run it by the local dealer and let them listen to it even if you do the work yourself in changing it out.

Good Luck

Whats wrong when your riding and the bike starts cutting out, backfiring, then just goes dead?

The first thing that you can check is the fuel pump, wiring and fuel filter. The power wires coming from the ignition, sometimes get corroded. the symptoms sounds like fuel starvation.

Acceleration promlems

Check for fuel supply problems as it sounds that at sustained high speed the fuel supply is not good enough. Possible pump dosen't have enough capacity

I have a timing problem. Low idle speed that is intermitten and causes a stumble at starts. This problem also occurres during normal running RPM's. Missing electronic signal but intermitten?

Could be bad sensor whether crank sensor, sam sensor, idle air control sensor, bad ignition module, bad coil or even timing belt. if you have a service engine soon light/creck engine light it's more than likely a sensor. If no light, probably timing belt/fuel filter plugged/ or weak fuel pump.

First, is the check engine light on ?
If the vent is not working for the tank, the fuel system can have trouble pumping fuel from the tank.
I would check fuel pressure at idle and cruise speed. Also try running with the gas cap off.

Harley sportster won't accelerate after warm... Idles fine top end is fine

Hi Anonymous, if you have a carburator the usual suspects are:
1. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system (gas cap).
2. Inlet system air leak.
3. Vacuum piston malfunction.
4. Accelerator pump leaking or no output.
5. Plugged bowl vent.
6. Fuel level (float chamber) too low.
7. Restriccted fuel supply passages.
8. Plugged jets or passages.
9. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet.
10. Enrichner valve not seated or leaking.
Good luck

Car is backfiring like no gas it has fuel injection

most times-a backfire is caused by being slightly out of time or bad valves--not sure of your year make or model of car. Sometimes the timing will jump and cause the firing order to be wrong and you'll get a backfire and the car will run ruff

1989 gmc 2500 305 engine back fire's on excelleration. Replaced Rotor and Cap. Also oxigen censer. Checked plugs, Wire's.

Backfire on acceleration could be caused by a worn lobe on the camshaft especially on a small block Chevy engine. You have to remove the valve covers and check the lift of each push rod. Sometimes it's quite obvious but sometimes it requires close inspection and even measuring the lift.
