Dosn't shift when runing

First check all the linkage bushes, are they worn and need replacing. If they're OK it could be your thrust bearing (part of the clutch mechanism) has seized.

Will not engage the starter. fuses fine, relay ok, & i can get the starter to engage when i get get under the truck. how do i test ignition switch or what else may it be

Test the power wire to the motor first . You need to run a jumper lead off the hot wire from the battrey to the motor . Useing a muilty meter connect the hot to the red lead on the meter and another lead from the black on the meter to know good engine ground set the meter on a 20 volt DC scale and have someone turn the key switch to start . If you have power at the starting motor 12 volts Dc then the problem is with the motor or the solonid . If you have no power at the motor then start checking connections and groundsalthough it could be the ignition switch its not likely . Make sure the battery dosn't have a bad cell turn the headlights on see how they work with engine off . The system also has fuseable links between the battery and the electrical system witch basicaly are wires that are made to burn out kind of like a fuse you can tell by feeling the jacket on them if the jacket feels like its moveing on the inner wire its bad Start at one point find out what works and what dosn't then take a logical approch to the problem and you should be able to track it down Good luck with it

2001 honda shadow what kind if fuel should i use

Regular unleaded should work well in your motorcycle; it may actually start and run better with regular than with premium gasoline.

The big wild card, however, is the amount of ethanol in the gas you are buying. Your bike would definitely run best on "pure" gasoline that contains little or no ethanol, but that's getting harder and harder to find. Personally, I have noticed that my bikes have started harder and run worse as the ethanol content in gasoline has increased. That's one reason I actually recommend staying away from premium, which sometimes has more ethanol in it than regular (it raises octane). I prefer to keep my bikes stock, rather than messing with the carb jets to compensate for the different performance curve of ethanol-blend gas.

If it's available in your area, you might try running your bike with some Cam2 racing gasoline to see if that makes a difference. You don't need the extra octane in that fuel, and some varieties of that fuel may still contain lead (a no-no for your engine), but it doesn't contain ethanol, as far as I know. Double-check with whoever is selling this fuel in your area to make sure you're getting the unleaded stuff. If you find that your bike runs well with this fuel, you might consider blending a bit of it with pump gas on going-forward basis.

Just replaced the friction plates, the clutch spring hub does not seat onto the splines. What did i do wrong?

G'day.
You don't stipulate your bikes model or year which makes this a bit harder.
When you fitted the outer hub(the one the springs sit in)- you've probably miss-aligned it.
Remove the springs again
Remove the hub- & re-fit over next set of posts(turn the outer hub so it dosn't go over the same posts as before) & it should slot all the way in.
If it dosn't-try again

It looks like the outer hub can fit over the spring posts in any position- but it can't.

I hope this works for you.

Starts ok when cold stalls when hot and wont re start, i have checked valve clearances

Do not twist the throttle when re-starting a hot engine. That bike floods easily. The power valve in the carb squirts gas into the cylinder with every twist of the throttle. A fresh spark plug will also help.

these bikes run on wet clutch plates the grade of oil must not be the right on if the oil is ok then there must be a problem with the oil pump not working once it gets hot

Just wondering what the engine oil capacity is on the te 610

abt 1.89 liters. After I fill bikes .I always run it a moment to get the oil around everywhere, but no long enough to get it hot, which will skew the measurement. I let it settle back down for a half an hour. Then check the window again. It's always lower. Then top upto mark.

Oil presser is high when frist started once warm it drops

Perfectly normal. Oil thins out when it gets hot. As long as hot oil pressure remains within the recommended range you are fine. Use the correct grade (weight) of oil listed in your owner's manual.
