Now here's a common problem. Carburetor service requires patience and attention to detail, especially on motor cycles. Handle the parts carefully. Remove any rubber parts and soak the throttle bodies in cleaning solution. If they are really dirty, then they might have to soak overnight. Clean them with a soft bristle parts brush. Always wear safety glasses. Rinse them off with water and dry them with compressed air. Reinstall new rubber parts and reinstall carburetors. Manually check the slides for smooth operation. Reconnect fuel line and linkage.

No fuel to carb

Remove the gas line feeding the carb and try crank it to see if gas is there. If not make sure the tank vent is clear, and that the fuel line is not clogged. Over time the rubber line will deteriorate on the inside and small bits of rubber can clog it, as well as the carb. Its always best to replace the fuel hose whenever you replace or rebuild the carb.

Why does the engine only run at full choke?

You're not telling us anything about its history or other symptoms. Given that, it's got fuel delivery problems, to possibly include: clogged fuel filter, cracked or collapsed fuel line, leaking purge bulb, clogged carb screen, stiff or leaking carb diaphragm or loose carb mt bolts, for starters. Replace lines, bulb & filter & rebuild carb first, in that order. Pay close attention to fuel line routing- take pix. You'll need a special tool to adjust carb mixture- Husqy carb tool

The bike starts up fine with the choke out, but revs real high, then as soon as I tray and push the choke in, it stalls out. Any Ideas?

hi cowboydesign

its starving for gas, either because the gas isnt getting to the carb or because the carb is clogged up. make sure your getting fuel to the carb first. remove the fuel line at the carb to make sure gas is flowing from the tank to the carb. if it is, your float might just be stuck or your carb is clogged up. you can try spraying carb cleaner in and around it, but that doesnt always work. if you never took a carb apart, i recommend finding someone that has.

When i pull up or stop the bike it just dies other

Your idle circuit in the carb can be clogged. Have you tried to set and adjust the idle? Have you tried running with the choke on a bit. This problem can be due to
  • 1) clogged idle circuit in the carb.
  • 2) ignition timing
  • 3) Vacuum leak at carb to head mount.
  • 4) restriction in tank port, or clogged screen in tank valve.
Hope this helps.

Just bought a 04 kx250f starts very hard and pops and backfires

Sorry, could be a clogged up carb from sitting or a bad ignition box. Have you got a pal with the same bike you could change out the carb to try? If the bike sat for quite a while, it almost certainly needs a carb cleaning and service.

4.5hp Brigss & Stratton engine.Engine runs rough.

Ok, check the air filter, it could be clogged. A clogged air filter won't allow a proper air-gas mixture. Then check the carb. make sure that it is clean, or if anything doesn't look right. You might have to get another carb. After that check the intake it could be clogged but this time a clogged intake means that there isn't enough fuel getting to the combustion chamer.

Will not start, carbs have no gas inbowls , Is getting fire

Sounds like your fuel intake port is clogged in the tank or the fuel filter is clogged for starters. look for a fuel filter in the line from the tank to the carb and see if you can find anything. If not then it's a clogged line or in the tank clog. That would be my bet.

Starts on choke but dies when moved off choke

If it will start on choke and die when choke is taken off...the carb needs to be taken off and cleaned. The main jet in the carb is probably clogged.
