Is the Motor and transmission oil together, or is it separate? Do i need to drain both to do an oil change? should i check the oil level on kickstand, or upright? Thanks

Engine and transmission/gearbox oil is on and the same, so there is one drain plug, one oil filter and one place to fill it all back up. The oil level is always checked with the bike upright and level.

2010 triumph thunderbird. Do i check oil level with bike level or leaned over on kickstand. I bought this bike used and no owners manual came with bike. Where can i get one?

You should check the oil level on a level ground and it should be standing. If your triumph motor has a center stand, better use that then check the oil level. If you change oil, you also need to change the oil filter. For the manual, go to http://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/

Hope this helps

How do you cheak the oil on a 1997 1100 virago

Motorcycles generally use one of three methods to check oil level.

1. A "sight glass" or small window which will allow you to see the oil level. (it should be at the mid point of the sight glass. Check it with the bike upright and not leaning on the kickstand.

2. The fill plug may have a short dipstick attached to it just like a car would. Again check it with the bike upright.

3. If no other method is used, then open the fill plug and fill until the oil level just reaches the lowest part of the fill hole without spilling out. Once again do this with the bike in the upright position.

Check to make sure the rubber O-ring is in good condition and is properly seated on the fill plug while you are at it!

Viewing oil indicator Suzuki Boulevard C90 (2008)

either get a bike lift or centre stand or lean the handlebar against a wall, you will find a spot where it is close to verticle.
leave the side stand down so it cant fall on you if it over balances away from the wall

On fxst 2005 do you check the oil level in tramission when on its kickstand or upright

Always check the transmission oil with the bike upright. The transmission holds 20-24 ounces of H-D Syn3 20W50 oil or H-D synthetic trans lube.

How do i check my oil in my 1983 Suzuki Tempter Motorcycle ?

There is a sight window for viewing your oil level on the right side engine crankcase cover. It is in the lower left corner of the cover as you look at the engine from the side. With the bike sitting upright, the oil level should be visible in the window. You want to be able to see oil and free space both in the window. If you don't see oil, you will need to add some. If you don't see free space, use a friend to lean the bike away from the window and see how far past vertical he has to lean it in order to be able to see the level. If it has to be leaned quite a bit off of vertical, you should drain the oil and refill it with the proper quantity.

Do I check the oil in my intruder 1400 resting on the kickstand?

Yes you do check the oil level when the bike is straight up and down to the ground. start the bike let it run for 3- 5 min shut it off. let it stand for 3-5 min get the bike is straight up and down. then check the motor oil level.
