Electric start on speedfight 2 wont work have installed a new battery as the bike has been standing for about a year

If the bike was running correctly when it was put in storage two years ago, I would start with the easy things first: As the previous poster suggested, install new, correctly gapped plugs, along with a new battery. Your bike uses an electronic ignition system, and it will not opporate correctly if you have a bad battery. The bike will miss, pop, and backfire, because there is not enough electrical power in storage (battery) to properly run the ignition system.

If these two things do not get the bike running correctly you will need to look at the carbs. Was the bike stored with fuel in the tank and carbs? If so, this is the most likely reason for the bike not wanting to run correctly. Flames from the exhaust are an indication of a very rich fuel/air mixture (a float could be stuck open (it can also be caused by the ignition not working properly and allowing unburnt fuel into the exhaust system)). Cleaning and reassembling mulitple carborators is not that difficult if you are careful and reasonably handy, but tuning them properly can be very difficult. You can save a lot of money if you rebuild them yourself, then take the bike to the shop to be tuned (The standard service rate these days is around $75 an hour)

Check your ignition system as there is usualy a restricter built in.

may need new battery, a certain amperage is needed to make the magnet pickups work. try jumping of a car battery to test

clean carbs...fuel goes off and leaves a residue that blocks the jets

ive just had this problem and when i checked the cable has snaped, you can use long nose pliars or fit the cable all together but short term long nose pliars from the left back pannel of the bike. hope this helps

peugeot, speedfighter, electric start does not start when i press the break and the yelllow button on the right hand side, and rev it does not make a sound its lie the bike dead. But when the key is turned the petrol gage still rises, the horn indicators and everything else works

Take the carburetors apart and either rebuild them or clean them thoroughly.

Hi there, try this sometimes the stand switch can make the bike not work if has got rusted at the back.and check or replace the coil., then check if you are getting a spark from the plug by putting the spark plug on top of the head. The next thing is if the bike turns over but not fire up, you need to strip down carb and clean jets, also check petrol value under the tank If you have a book it will go through this step by step. good luck.
