Take your altenator to AutoZone and have it tested. If the voltage regulator is defective, you might notice your volt meter running up over 14 volts. The extra voltage messes with the electronic shift and your car stays in high gear instead of downshifting.

My daughter's 2000 Isuzu Rodeo acted like it ran out of gas while going 60mph. I put a gallon of gas in it and after several attempts it did start and idle. It would not, however, rev the engine when the...

All of the symptoms that you have talked about point to a fuel pump that is starting to fail. I would take it to a mechanic and have the fuel pressure checked. It is a simple procedure and should be rather inexpensive.

I have the same car and the same problems. I think it may be a ground issue. Once the weather is a bit warmer, I will be checking the different connections. Does anyone else have any ideas.

Battery light came on car started backfiring loosing instruments and power

Check battery voltage with car off. Start car, check voltage again. Have a helper rev the engine slightly (hold RMP's around 2000). If low with car running as well (less than 12v) suspect bad alternator.

Loss of power

I would check the spark plug wires. If the problem just came out of nowhere, good chance plug wire or wires is at fault. Another symptom pointing towards plug wires would be if it doesn't always do it especially when it's warming up or hasn't come up to operating temp. It will seem to run O.K. but once the vehicle engine warms to oper. temp. the problem will happen. If I am wrong let me know and we can check other things. Good luck
