Check and change the trans fluid that is in the engine just behind the shifter - pull the drain plug out that is under the shifter and let everything drian out. put the plug in and then open the inspection cover begind the left foot peg and pout in 1 FULL QUART OF HARLEY PRIMARY DRIVE OIL. YES, IT USES A SPECIAL OIL. That should fix your tranny issues.

SOURCE: Blast High Beam Flasher Switch

including when the bike is running and in gear. Laps switched high or low. If I pull the switch out a bit I can see a spring behind it but that's it. Is there a trick to this switch I'm not finding? If it's broke is there any repair tips? you can replace the whole assembly find a guy who is electrically inclined to r&r the switch, or like most live without it and just flash folks manually by turning the hi beams on and off.,,,

SOURCE: 09 buell xb12r firebolt, problems when bike is

I have an 04 firebolt and sometimes it can be a chore getting nuetral on it also. Are you sure your not just skipping it by going to far with shift lever? I sometimes have to have it in 1st or 2nd and lightly let out on the clutch handle. Just enough that the clutch wants to ingage the gear . I rock the bike forward and back a little while looking for nuetral.

sounds like the shift rod is worn its a common problem in sports bikes if they have been shifted a lot without the clutch most of the time they get where they will kick out of second gear on there own but sometimes they can get stuck in second depending on how the wear has gone
