My youngest son has a RM Z125 Suzuki dirt bike. We have had a hell of a time getting ti started. We consulted several resources and they all said his carb was gummed up and needed to be taken apart and cleaned. We did and found that the float valve was stuck. After five cleanings the thing starts with little problems but now we have yet another one. It over revs. When you hit the kill switch it keeps running on. There does not seem to be any adjustments that can be made from the outside. The clutch has to be engaged to stop the thing from running. So, we have gone from "No go" to "Can't stop" What suggestions do you have?

Hi Check that the kill switch is connected to the ignition & is working OK
There may be a carbon deposit on the head which is glowing red hot thereby igniting the fuel like a diesel (without a spark) The other possibility is dieseling by over compression (at 14:1 compression petrol self ignites) but that is not very likely

Removed carb of Z125 Suzuki. Cleaned it and put it back. Now it over reves the enging.

Hi The slide is probably stuck in the carb, it only fits 1 way - with the groove in the slide aligned with the projection in the slide chamber Either that or the idle or air screws need adjusting The other thing that makes them rev high is an airleak around the inlet tract

A fterI warm up my 01 rm 250 my bike don't start

Possibly the choke is getting stuck internally, Even thoug the leaver may be in the closed (normal) position, it may be sticking internally. Try removing the choke and cleaning the passage with some carb cleaner, then replace the lever. The bike could run with a partially cloged choke but would be tough to start when warm due to too much fuel. Another thing to check, when it is hard to start, just after kicking it over a few times, remove the spark plug and see if it is wet with gas. My guess is that's it's soaked. Good luck.

I'm trying to find out how to set the timing on a 1999 rm250

Stators usually do not move unless someone does it or a engine overhaul. Go to a Suzuki forum (dirt bike) and someone will have the answer. Each bike is different so it might be worth it to get a shop manual. Dirt bike manuals are all not that pricey
