1996 XJ900 Diversion will not fire

I have '96 xj900 diversion that will not fire when starting, the rev counter flicks to 9000 rpm indicating an ignition problem. I have replaced the CDI, coils, main starter relay, these I know are good also I have replaced the pickup coil with a second hand one and I have wire checked all the ignition wiring. Can anyone help?

SOURCE: MY YZ250 WONT REV PAST 3/8 THROTTLE. I NEED HELP!!

It does sound like an ignition timing problem, but could also be a breathing issue, air flow in or exhaust flow out could be restricted i.e.:dirty air filter, excessive carbon build up in exhaust pipe from burning too much oil or rich fuel mixture.
possibly and more likely some junk got into your fuel system and partially plugged up the main jet in the carb, -or has the needle on the slide been moved? The little circlip at the top of the needle, if it has one.
1.Replace the spark plug, check gap, check spark, it should be bright blue and fat.
2. check the fuel filter, if no filter check the carb for dirt.

SOURCE: TTR 90 wont start. Not carb. Not CDI. Plug cap?

Every component plays a part in the ignition system. Check the wiring as you go. Start at one end and move forward. You have done a lot of work so far. so you should be close. If the igniter is fine and the other components too. Then it would narrow it down to an electrical problem or no signal/pulse to the coil. See if the coil is receiving that pulse. you can use a test light for this test. Pos. will be power and NEG. will be the pulse. With light on the NEG. crank the engine over and see if it flashes. Let me know how its going.

How much diff oil do I need for xj900s Diversion.Do I fill it until it trickles out the filler,or does it take less

That's the final drive? It takes 0.2 litres, of transmission oil, and yes, you fill it until it begins to dribble out, with the bike on a level.
