How to find and change a hyundai elantra automatic transmission filter

Hy i have one hundai elantra 02 ineed chage oil filter in automatic transmition

Usually the transmission filter is in the bottom of the transmission. all you do take the pan off and the filter is bolted to the bottom of the transmission.

These cars typically have one of three scenarios. Either there is a filter on top of the transmission, or down inside the bottom pan of the transmission, or they were assembled with no filter in which case you are advised in the manual to follow a quicker oil change timeline. Your parts store can give you some help by showing which filters are listed. I would simply pick up all filters listed, then come home and start your work. You can return the unused filter later. To determine your case, look in the engine compartment.
1. Look for a filter to the right side of the engine compartment, on top of the transmission, just to the left of the filter box. Sometimes there is a round foundation for where a filter would go had they simply drilled it out and threaded it to accept the filter. If you see this unfinished foundation, your transmission is likely one without a filter. If there is a filter there, your search is complete, simply replace it.
2. Second, look for an oil pan under the transmission (don't confuse this with the oil pan on the left side which is for the engine). If your car has an oil pan UNDER the transmission, it may have a filter here. (Your car won't have two filters btw)
3. Finally, if you have an "oil pan" on the front face of the transmission, please listen carefully. Don't remove this. It's actually a service access panel for the valve-body portion of the transmission. There's no filter in there. If you pull this like I did, the pan will not come completely out, so you will have to scrape and clean both surfaces and then re-seal it and torque it down all while the pan is right there against the transmission. Very difficult. Don't do it!

Also, don't simply drain the oil from the plug and replace it. Your torque converter has a lot more oil in it... which will not all drain out. You will be left with half-changed oil. There are methods you can research to pump through until it's completely replaced, but this service is not that expensive at a service center and is totally worth the money if you ask me.
