How can I improve gas mileage in my 2008 Saturn outlook? It has 36500 miles so far. Horrible on gas. Any ideas. I really haven't done tune up yet.

You can change the spark plugs and coils, wires for a little better gas mileage. I would say 60,000-70,000 miles. If you are under that, probably still ok. You can try fuel injector cleaner in the tank. Check your tires and make sure they are properly filled up. If the vehicle is out of alignment, it will cause bad gas mileage. Make sure you have no vacuum leaks and make sure your air filter is clear. If you have any questions, just let me know.

There are several issues that can cause poor gas mileage. I suggest you perform ( or have performed) a tune up. Filters, Fluids, Spark Plugs, Wires, Belts, etc.. & see if that improves your fuel economy...

i recommend to replace the spark plugs and the spark plug wires (it is always recommended to replace both at the same time) it is also a good idea to replace the air filter and fuel filter if this hasnt been done long time or if you do a lot of driving and you have done it in a while i still recommend to do so and it is a good idea at this time of the year to change the oil if it hasnt been done w/i the last 3 months or 3,000 miles which ever is first. this will fix that spark problem and improve gas mileage.

Look for a hole or leak in your air intake tube first, then do a basic tune up...plugs/rotor/air filter/dizzy cap (if needed) and inspect vacuum lines for cracks......these would be the most common causes of your problem

You are always going to get worse gas mileage with E85 than regualr gasoline.  My sister has a colbalt and she mixes 1/2 gas and 1/2 e85.  The dealer told her she could do this to improve mileage.  I would not try it in your car unless you check with the dealer first, it could mess your engine up if you do it.  If you are getting that mileage with gasoline, then i would change spark plugs to bosch platnium 2 or something that allows more spark.

Lost gas mileage. I would have to assume that you are not getting the require mile per gallon. For example If the car book say 32 miles per gallon. You are getting about 20 to 25 miles per gallon.
If you want to improve the your gas mileage then you have to do the required maintenance
Oil change every 3000 mile
tune up as required
Air filter
If the wiring spark plug wire is old and crack then it need to be replace.
If you park out side and the batteries is about 5 years old have it check
If you buy the car new, you will have a car book follow the maintenance routine.
If you have done all the maintenance and the gas mileage is low than recommended then take it to a shop to figure out if some thing is wrong or not preforming as it should.

you may want to check to see if their is to much fluid in it,its along shoot but it does happen,see to much causes foaming of the fluid and it cant do its job.have u noted all engine conditions and any other condition when it acts up?good luck.

usualy it is 20 miles to the gallon and to improve your gas mileage i would do a tune up... spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter. and add tune up in a can its only like $4.00 from autozone. and also replace your airfilter, add air to your tires like 35 psi. and clean your fuel system .
