I have a derbi boulevard 125 E2 2004 model that has lied idle for over a year. I am in the process of rebuilding this machine due to it being dropped several times. This task is nearly finished however, on start up the engine maintains a very low RPM and stalls immediately when the throttle is opened. I have checked the fuel pre-filter and replaced all fuel lines to no avail. I understand that the immobiliser system is working correctly according to the workshop manual. Can you throw any light on the problem?

Hi and thanks for that. It is my suspicion too. I have had the carb out and cleansed it thoroughly but I am no expert on carbs and the screws that hold it all together are in there so tight that I can't loosen them so I will probably remove the carb again and take it to a specialist workshop (if I can find one here in Spain). On a second note, would the engine start at all if the immobiliser was faulty? The light on the dash indicates it isn't faulty as per the workshop manual.
