I can't find any parts diagrams for a DT360, and it has been 35 years since I worked on a DT360 at LYNN'S YAMAHA, DM Iowa, but as I recall there IS a ball bearing in the assembly. It went in right before the pushrod. The diagram below is for a 1978 DT400. I am pretty sure your 360 has the same clutch assembly as the 400. The ball bearing would not have worn down. A prior owner leaving it out is far more likely. Please take a moment and rate my answer. Thanks.
Tombones ~ My dad owned Lynn's and I would love to know who you are...
My year at Lynn's was sometime around 1971. I was buying so many parts (fixing bikes out of my garage), that Gerund asked me to reassemble a RD350 top end that someone else had torn down; if I could, he wanted me as a mechanic. Thirty minutes later I had a job at Lynn's. This was a second job for me. My trade was commercial printing for 42 years. I retired early at 56. I changed my last name in January of 1974. Other mechanics at the time were Bill Riddle and a guy nicknamed Woody. I knew that Gerund had a daughter but I have forgotten her name. I didn't know he had a son. I don't want to mention my name (either of them) in the Fixya open forum. Let's do this; my email is > [email protected]. Send me an email and I can talk freely. How is your sister?

If the clutch lever has tension, the push rod and ball may be still in there.
The clutch plates can stick together with time.
They sometimes unstick by riding with the clutch in, and varing the throttle.
