SOURCE: Lost my key.

i dont think so, you could contact yamaha dealer and ask if they can order you a new key from the chassis number, or remove the ignition or seat lock if you can and take it to a good locksmith to make you a key from the lock

SOURCE: lost 1999 cbr key

were both keys the same if not it sounds like its had a replacement ignition barrel. it may have a key number stamped in the back of the barrel casing. if it has you can order a replacement key from any good locksmith/dealer, alternatively you can order a replacement barrel from m&p or any motorcycle parts stockists.

SOURCE: Need to remove key cylinder for vstar 650

They are tamper resistant screws which take a special tool to remove. (keeps the average theif from unbolting your ignition switch and easily hot wiring the bike) however the bolts can be drilled out to gain access to the switch and then replaced with a standard type screw upon reinstallation, the choice is yours.

Lost key to 1984 Honda Motorcycle, 500cc Honda VT bike

On many old Hondas you will find a number stamped onto the lock cylinder of either the ignition, gas tank, or helmet catch. Go to the dealer with this number and your title, and the dealer will cut you a key matching your bike. If this isn't an option a professional locksmith can use instruments to size up and cut a key for you just by examining the lock. However, this is generally quite expensive.

I lost my key

Every lock on the older Yamaha's has a key code stamped on it. Take off the ignition switch and go to a locksmith that cuts motorcycle keys or go to a dealer. They should be able to cut the key or order one from the Yamaha key cutting service in California. The key code can also be taken off the helmet lock . It is an A,B,C,D,or E followed by 5 digits. If you have a newer Yamaha( last 10 years) your key code was on a little metal tag that came with your keys. If you lost the tag , did you or your dealer write the code in your owners manual. If a new or recent purchase, call the dealer they may have the key code written on a packet with the bikes paperwork.

I lost the key to my 1999 Honda CBR 600 can anyone tell me how to hot-wire the bike so i can get it to the dealership and get a new key. It's my only vehicle

Do not damage your motorcycle. The key code is on every lock on the bike. Your helmet lock has the code. The back side of your ignition switch has the code . The number is also on your fuel cap, but you have to take it off to read it. The code is six digits long Example: 345A56 A56 is the key code or 999123 123 is the key code. You can take this code to the dealer or to a locksmith and have them cut a key.

How to take the seat off my husband 2007 vt 750. I have lost his key and we dont have a spare. I need to take the cylinder lock off and take it to the dealer ship to get a new key

The key code is also on the helmet lock and the fork lock. Have you tried taking off the left side cover , that may give you enough access to get to the ignition switch? A good salesman would have written the code on your owners manual. Only 3 years old the selling dealer still may be able to look up the key code on there paperwork.

I lost my keys to my 1986 honda shadow vt1100 and i need to know how to bypass the ignition switch

Your ignition switch , helmet lock , and gas cap have key codes on them. Example #345A56 the last three letters or digits are the key code #A56 in this case. You can take off your ignition switch and take it to a dealer or locksmith and they can make you a key from the code. Check your owners manual in case your dealer was nice enough to write it down for you.

I ve lost the keys to 2001 v max yamaha, how do i get another set made ,is there a # somewhere on the bike to match a code to get a set made,no manual

A good salesman will write the key cod on your owners manual. If the salesman does not, you should get in the habit of keeping a record of the key codes for your vehicles. The key code is stamped on the original keys on older bikes, and on a small metal tag that comes with the keys on newer bikes. On older bikes the code is also stamped on the base of the ignition switch, gas cap and possibly the helmet lock. You will probably have to remove the switch to read it. Take the ignition switch with you to the lock smith or dealer to make sure the key works before you leave the store. A proper key code for a bike of your vintage is a letter (A,B,C.D,or E) followed by five digits, Example # A12345. Ignitions are the test of a good key a bad key will work in everything but the ignition.

Lost gas cap key for 1987 Suzuki Savage. Any way to get cap off or have a new key made. Ignition key had already been replaced.

Get your key code off your helmet lock. Check your owners manual in case the original sales man was nice enough to write it down. Call original dealer just in case they are nice enough to keep a record of the key code.

Take the ignition lock out and have a locksmith make a new key for it. If the ignition key also unlocks another part of the bike (e.g. a helmet lock or security lock) it's often easier to remove one of those. I'm assuming you don't have this problem as a consequence of stealing the bike ;-)?
