Question about 2001 Yamaha TW 200

2001 Yamaha blaster. No spark. owner has replaced ignition coil, spark plug. I need help understanding diagnosing the ignition system. how does it work?

If i remember it right. There are two wires in the ignition. Try disconnecting the two wires that went to the ignition switch. When the two wires are connected it will not start and if you disconnect them it should start or atleast you should get spark. Thank you for using Fixya!

Hi, Anthony and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Severely discharged or damaged battery, you need 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
8. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
9. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
10.. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
11. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC,or BAS).
12. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
13. Faulty fuel pump fuse or relay.
14. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
15. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.

No spark on my 2001 yamaha r1


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and CDI box.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose, check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil, pick up coil, trigger coil or CDI box testing needs to be checked with an ohmmeter at 70 degrees Fahrenheit
7. Faulty safety switches clutch, kickstand, neutral, off/on etc.
8. Faulty ignition switch.

My 2000 yamaha R1 has no spark. All the fuses are good and i changed the ignition box but still no spark??? HELP PLEASE

Yamaha 750 yics will not start no spark

2. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a "LOAD" test, your battery may show 12.5 volts but has little or zero amps and must be replaced.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.

2001 xjr 1300 will not start their is no spark at plugs

2001 Yamaha SR 400 no spark


Hi, Pedazaretore and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test, your battery may show 12.5 volts or more but has little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this category more so than lead acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.

1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
