Question about 1985 Honda CB 700 SC Nighthawk

Open Question

I have a 1985 Honda CB700SC Nighthawk S. The problem I am having is, after the motor has been run hot for awhile then is parked and left to cool on the center stand oil leaks from somewhere and drips down from the bottom of the engine. Also I found traces of oil on the bottom of my air filter chamber. Please advise

Hello thor67...your wing should hold 300cc's per side.
Tip: suggest useing 15wt fork oil instead of the ATF that mother Honda recommends.
Hope this helps...ride safe...ride smart.

no need to gap them if they are new. straight out of the package is just fine. you only ever need to gap used plugs after you clean them, cause as they wear the gap gets bigger.

I think you should check your clutch adjustment. You can take a look at a generic service manual here: http://hrca.onda.com/

Over heating ... Check all of your engine's cooling systems ... fins, air flow .. This engine is air and oil cooled. Are you getting a overheat warning or does it just stop?

I need a gasket kit A for my 1984 Honda cb700sc nighthawk s but the one for my bike is super expensive. Any ideas what other models might work or a cheap place to find them?

I assume you went to Honda and they want your left kidney for the gasket set! Here,s the thing many of the after market gasket sets are good and most are close to the original BUT if you are going to keep this bike my advice is to pay the money and get the real thing.I learned this lesson the hard way when I bought an aftermarket set and 25% of the stamped holes where in the wrong place.Bought a Honda set in the end.Good luck and good riding.

1985 nighthawk sc 700 leaks small amount of gas from left side carb

Is it leaking when you have it sittin strait up and down and running? If it leaking when it is not running then I would say you have a sticking fuel float.
