Question about 2001 Suzuki VZ 800 Marauder

1 Answer

I have a 2001 Suzuki Marauder VZ800. I have cleaned the entire fuel system, replaced the hoses and filter, rebuilt the carbs, replaced plugs and wires, replaced air filters, changed oil and filter and the bike will not run for more than 10 seconds. Fuel pump is working correctly also. It acts like it's running out of fuel, but the carb bowls are full even after it shuts off. It's not flooding, there's no smoke or anything. I don't get it. I've tried everything.

Sounds like the main jet (float rest against) is blocked or installed upside down. hence fuel in bowl but not in cylinder

Well, I pulled the carbs just to make sure, but everything's installed correctly. No blockages at all either. Still as clean as when I put them back in.

2000 VZ800 marauder runs mostly on one cylinder

It seems there is too much of fuel going into the non firing cylinder thus the blackish spark plug, recheck the float level to that carburater and also check the valve clearance.

2002 Suzuki Marauder VZ800 Front cylinder does not fire till bike warms up a bit?

Definately try a spark plug first. What does the old spark plug look like? ( white, oil fouled, melted, metallic?). Usually a fuel issue will make the inoperable cylinder very hot. Might have a loose valve guide in the head, or a bent valve.

My 98 suzuki vz800 marauder sputters at low speeds but cruises great is this carb adjustment, fuel air mixture or sync

Could be a combo of all. Replace your spark plugs sync carbs, and run it to see how it responds before you mess with the mixtures. Also check for any vacuum leaks. Hope this helps.

I have a 2000 suzuki marauder vz800. the front carb isnt getting fuel and the carbs have been freashly rebuilt. i am getting fuel to the rear. i cant tell if the fuel pump is working. it is brand new...

This is a common problem with vz800 models, I had the very same problem front ran lean and rear ran rich. I would advice you to do the following strong. change the frot jet to 130 rear to 135 and both needles should be 3rd from the top. it's not your fuel pump it rarely goes bad.If there is back firing then turn the carb. screw out by 31/2 turns. hope this helps. PS: it is not your petcock, nor your fuel pump. One advice have you gas tank cleaned and line it with POR only it is a good product.

Gas leake from Air vent hose ( rear carburator) Suzuki Marauder VZ800 2002

If you mean that fuel runs out of one of the vent lines, note that one of those lines is for overflow from the carb bowl. If this is what is happening, you might have corrosion or dirt making your float needle stick, and overflow fuel to that carb. It needs to be cleaned out by removing the bowl, float and float needle.

How does the tank come off on a 2001 suzuki vz800 marauder

first take off the seat
when the front seat is removed you will clearly see 2 10 mm bolts holding down the tank...
you must also disconnect the fuel lines at the fuel shut off switch, i plug them with golf tees
perfect fit.
