Question about Suzuki Boulevard C50T Motorcycles

1 Answer

I have a suzuki boulevard c50. The battery died over the winter and had to be charged. It has failed to crank 2 times since then. I jumped it off and rode for about 50 miles home after turning it off it would not crank. It does not seems to be charging, I jumped it off and removed the cable and it died. What do you think the issue may be?

It sounds like it is time for a new battery. While the regulator could have been damaged during the jumping procedure, the symptoms you've outlined still point to a bad battery. Motorcycle batteries do not fair well from a complete discharge. Sometimes removing the all of the acid and replacing with new acid will provide another year of service, but not always.

My reasoning for the thinking it is the battery is because of it not being kept charged over the winter and it was working fine before then (charging system usually does not get damaged from non-use). If the bike died when you removed the cable while it was idling, this would suggest the battery as well as a magneto based charging system is very weak at idle and relies on the battery to supplement it during periods of idle. To test my theory, jump the bike off, rev it to 1200 to 1500 RPM and disconnect the jumper cable. If the bike continues to run but dies when you let it idle, then the charging system is functioning and the battery needs to be replaced.

sounds like the starter is shorted out or the bike was tried to start when battery was near dead and the starter is engagaed if starter is engagaed put it in gear and bump(push the bike ) it a few times forward and back this should disengage the starter if it still blows fuses the you may have a shorted windings in the starter and it will need to be rebuilt

2006 Suzuki Boulevard C50 engine dies

Even though you probably don't have that many miles on the bike, or if you do have a lot riding time on it, it sounds to me like you need a valve adjustment. That's a high reving bike for that engine that works pretty hard so you might have 1 - 3 loose valves.

Suzuki Boulevard C50, cranks but won't turn over to start. It has not been used much recently though short ride was taken a week or two prior to this problem. Battery seems charged sufficiently and gets to...

fuel does not have a very good shelf life. it only takes a couple of weeks to lose it's octane level. although fuel injector additive is good to clean and maintain your fuel system, it is not a fuel stabilizer to maintain octane rating in fuel. i recommend changing you plugs and draining your old gas and replacing it with fresh gas. try using a product called SeaFoam in your fuel, it cleans and stabilizes, you can get it at your local auto parts store.
