Evidently, you are trying to lower a Softail bike. You must raise the bike so you can get at the shocks underneath. But, you must also block the rear wheel up so it doesn't fall when you disconnect the shocks.

Once you get the bike litke this, loosen the lock nuts towards the rear wheel. With those loose, take the bolts out that hold the pivot rods to the rear swing arm. Now, turn the adjuster nut so that the pivot rods are coming out of the adjuster nut. Once completely out, start your new longer rods back in the adjuster nuts. Don't forget to take the lock nut off the original pivot rods and put them on the new ones before you put them in the adjuster nuts. Do both shocks the same way. Adjust the rods to the same length and bolt them back to the swing arm. If the won't go, you may have to raise or lower the rear wheel so that the bolt holes line up with the pivot rods. Reinstall the bolts that hold the pivot rods to the swingarm and lock the lock nuts down. Your bike should be lowered at this point. If it's not like you want it, you'll have to adjust the shocks with the adjuster bolt.

Keep in mind that on the Softail, if you lower the bike too much, the top of the final drive belt may rub the underside of the inner primary cover underneath the starter and make a noise. If you hear a whining noise, this is probably what it is. Watch for that.

Sorry, I don't have any pictures.

Good Luck
steve

Hey Troy,
Sorry to hear about your trouble. It sounds like you increased the angle at the CV joint on your shafts. A longer shaft may not alleviate the problem. The big thing with a lift kit on your ATV is making sure the design of the kit is sound. And that it was installed properly.
Now it's quite possible you simply had a manufacture defective boot. And a new one is all you need. And that should be under warranty. I would certainly go back to the installer and show them the trouble you are having. With the lift kit, I feel you should have new shafts to meet the design requirements. Or your stock shafts may need to be modified. I hope all you really need is a better boot. And I hope this info gets you back to riding soon.

Take care.

Change my springs from a lowering set to a more progressive set of springs for a road king classic what is the factory hight of the forks fully extended after adding new springs ??

The springs you install will dictate the ride height so one needs to know the ride height specs for those particular springs which only the spring kit manufacturer/supplier is likley able to tell you.

How to adjust the swing arm

Hi Anonymous, adjusting the shocks does not alter the height of the back end, just stiffens or soften the ride, for lowering the ride height the usual options are:
1. Thinner less paded seat.
2. Rear shock lowering kit.
3. Shorter shocks.
4. Shorter air shocks.
5. Front fork lowering kit.
6. Low profile tires.
Good luck.

Koubalink I am short as well, could ride fine, but as the bike is tough to kickstart, I needed the height to get a full range on the kickstart. Bought a Koubalink, fitted it in about 30 mins and worked out perfectly. Cheers

Front is low !!

To alter the vehicles ride hight is a drastic and costly solution. The shock adsorbers will not alter the ride hight as it's the strut assy that determines the vehicles hight, Also ensure there are no excessively heavy items in the trunk . A broken exhaust mounting will lower underside clearences. Check and inspect all mountings. It would be worth measuring your kerd side height with a similar vehicle. I presume you don't mean , side skirts added at a later date on vehicle. Good Luck
