No it wont fit properly even the local mechanic says it will. If you fix without changing the Rim then you will find problems while riding.

Your VIN code refer at one 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 4.0L 6-cyl. Quadra-Trac, then, according with this, you must pay attention to the Standard tire size (in case of different tires in front and rear the dimensional data are valid for driving or rear wheels):
Standard tire size: P 215/75 R 15
Tire width (mm): 215
Tire sidewall factor: 75
Rim size (in): 15

Total wheel diameter (mm / in): 704 / 27.7

Hope this helps.

What is the difference between tire size 255/70 and 265/70

Hello Projocs03,

Tires are typically measured tire width (sidewall)/tire ride height/wheel size. The differences of the two tire sizes you published are .4 of an inch difference in width/sidewall. And about .55 in over all diameter which would impact you revs per rotation. Depending on your wheel size.

Attached is a comparison of the two given the variable of 17" rim.

I added the above link so you can research further or change any variables you need to know. However, the most important thing to understand is the impact of your speedometer. Different sizes will have different impacts. For example going to a bigger tire will show a slower speed on your spedo that your traveling.

Good luck

Can we change rim &rear tyre of discover 150?

yes you can but the advice is don't because for example if you have 40inch dia of a rim and if you are changing it to 35 then you have increase the throttle (rpm) to attain a particular speed that will be more throttle then what you gave in 40inch ( since it is smaller than what you have already) 1. Reduce your millage. 2.always engine running in hight rpm so wear and tear will be more 3.over heating 4.over throttling in bridges.

If the tyre fitter says yes and you have an accident because of it, then the tyre fitter will be responsible for your accident.

Can you put mountain bike rims or wheels on a road bike?

Yes, but not without consequences. The front wheel will probably fit, but the brakes won't reach the rim and it's likely that the tire will get squeezed by the fork.
A modern rear MTB hub is 135 mm wide, while a modern road hub is 130 mm, so there's your first problem. Then you'll also have the same issues with brakes not reaching and tire clearance as you had for the front.

Bikes with disc brakes can sometimes take different wheel sizes w/o any further issues, but keep in mind that pedal clearence will change.

Removing some of the parts from yor bike ll give you sporty lok. 1. Replace the chain guard with semi covered one 2. remove the saree guard 3. remove the original handlebar and install 3 peice handle bars. 4. increase the size of rear suspension. (this can be done by increasing the size of the metal holder in bottom end of the suspension).
