Battery needs to charge on a slow charge using a charger designed for motorcycle/ATV's It should charge up to and hold around 13 plus volts, then put a load test on the battery to ensure it is going to hold the charge. Motorcycle batteries are notorious for havin one or more dead cells, especially if they have sat for any length of time.

If your battery charges completely and the load test is good, you should check the alternator and regulator for proper operation. If you don't have the capability to do this, any good motorcycle shop can.

you may have to use a code reader to reset the CPU program as flat batteries can corrupt the program and cause starting problems.

IT costs nothing to have a load test done on the battery to check for a dead cell which your problems point to. While the engine is running the alternator will be handling the power requirement but the battery will not supply the power required to start.

My 2000 neon started and drove with no problem 2 days ago. today I tried to start it up and nothing. lights, radio.etc are working, fluids good gas filled...sounds like car is trying to start..small...

you say you have lights, radio, etc, but are the headlights bright or so so? you may have dirty terminals on the battery, or the battert may be on its last leg. if the terminals are corroded, you will have high resistance in the circuit. pull the battery connections off and clean them first to eliminate the simple stuff.

91 Cressida won't start

Lead acid batteries can "die" catastrophically. This is actually not all that uncommon. If the battery is new, it should be under warranty. I would take it back, and have them test it. It it fails, which I believe it will, then there is the problem. If it passes, then your alternator is probably bad. The chances of it being your alternator are slim as you did jump the car off, and drive it for a while. If the battery is too weak to start the car, it will not maintain vehicle operation very long without help from the alternator.

if you removed the dome lightbulb then there is no longer a draw from the battery there but if the ashtray light light does not go out then over a period the battery will go dead or drained to the point to not the vehicle
