Question about Suzuki RM 125 Motorcycles

Have a 1990 rm 125 and it starts right up with the choke all the way open,but revs right up but if i take the choke off it will run for a few secs then idle down and stall.Whats that mean?I am also having a poblem with my clutch when I got it the oil was all thick and white so I rode it till was warm and drained it and then done it again and its still a little milky.Ive been putting 10w30 in it.Is that alright to use.But it still seems to be slipping when you get right on to it.You think I need new clutches and steels?Thank You.Josh

The running problem is an air leak between the carb body and the cylinder. Hardened rubber seals or manifold are not sealing out un-carbureted air. The "milk" in the oil is emulsified water. The water could be due to cylinder / head gaskets leaking, water pump seal leaking and potentially condensation in the gearbox. New fiber friction plates should be all the clutch needs. The metal pressure plates should be fine assuming they are not warped. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

The reving and dying could be air mixture screw screw all the way in and screw out 2 turns and start from there

Engine revs up while idling


Check the Exhaust Valve actuating rod is firmly in it's bush and the actuating arm is screwed to the valve actuator...the diagram on this link below refers.

Have you looked closely for air leaks between carby and engine, airbox obstructions or wrong sized pilot jet? Choke plunger thread not loose allowing extra fuel to surge through? Try turning air mixture screw IN half turn. The site below has the complete bike in exploded diagrams. Hope this all helps, good luck.

Three things required for combustion: fuel, compression, and spark (at the right time). If your bike has sat for more than a few months, the carburetor is very likely plugged up with gasoline varnish. Take it completely apart and soak in carburetor cleaner, then blow out with compressed air - making sure the jets are clear (hold each one up to a light and look through it). Refill the tank with fresh gasoline and it should run.

2003 suzuki rm 85 wont start cleaned carburetor,


if it has reed valves, check them for either cracked or broken pedals. also try starting it with the air filter removed. also make sure the choke is operating properly

I recently bought a suzuki rm 125 and it wont run with out me giving it revs y is this . i cant leave it to tick over because wen i let off the throttle the bike dies????


the idle buddy is too low,on the carb is a screw the ide screw turn it in 1/4 of a turn with the bike running untill it idles the way you want it too and it will idle the pic below ill help ya buddy 34c510c.jpg

Carb adjusting


get the bike started, hold the engine at a high idle. while holding the idle high, adjust the air fuel mixture screw until it sounds smooth. rev it up a few times and see if the engine is "snappier". let it return to an idle, then adjust the idle screw. it may take a few tries to get it right, just listen to the engine.. if this dont work, you may consider re-jetting the carb. hope this helps...

Not warming up or keeping tickover keeps cutting out althoughnot


carb needs a clean , try fireing a bit of injector cleaner into the carb (remove airfilter and spray a little bit at a time !! then try again , if still no good the carb will need to come off and be cleaned ,
