Use only a JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. Automotive oil uses different additives and will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. Shell Rotella T Synthetic (15w-40 about $22) and Shell Rotella standard oil ($12 a gallon) for diesel engines , both are JASO MA rated for motorcycles.10w-40 oil is good for cold climate. 20w-50 for hot climate/touring. Synthetic oil will make your cycle run cooler and shift easier. For the engine you will probably need four quarts of oil, a spin on filter, and a drain plug washer . Pour in three quarts and check the oil level by placing your motorcycle on the center standard looking at looking at the dip stick. Run the motor and top up as needed.
If changing the oil filter you will have to run the motor to get an accurate oil level reading.
Your final drive uses 80/90 hypoid gear oil. Synthetic hypoid oil will reduce friction and make your final drive run cooler.

2006 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100 oil pressure issues

Hi, Anonymous you may have a faulty sending unit to check for normal engine oil pressure, make sure the engine oil level is between the add and full marks on the dipstick. Remove the oil pressure sending unit, located on the right engine case, behind the oil filter mounting bracket, and replace/plum/or rig with a known good mechanical gauge that reads 0 to 40/50 lbs. Start the engine and run it until the engine oil reaches the normal operating temperature of 230 degrees. At 1,000 RPM, the oil pressure should be 2 to 4 lbs. at 2,000 RPM the oil pressure should be 30 to 38 lbs. How many quarts does a honda saber vt 1100 hold

You will need 4 quarts of oil. When taking out the drain bolt do not be afraid to push the cooling line out of the way to remove the bolt. Pour in 3 plus quarts, whatever it takes to hit the high mark on the dipstick. Run the engine to fill the dry filter. Recheck the oil level and top off to the high mark. You will use between 3.5 and 4 quarts depending on how much is left in the motor after you rain the old oil. You can reuse the aluminum crush washer but keep a spare on hand in case the bolt was overtightened on a previous oil change and the washer is contorted out of shape.

How many quarts of oil does it take to change oil in a 2005 honda shadow 1100 motorcycle

It takes 3.7 quarts. Please put the correct oil for the conditions of your riding. In Alaska, use 10-30W oil for the climate is cool. If you live in Arizonia, please put 10- 40W or 20-50W because of the intense heat down there. It is better to have a little thicker oil in your engine than to lite of oil for the protection it needs.

Neeed oil change information

I always use a fram filter from advance auto parts. As for oil, The older bike should not run synthetic oil. The clutches were not designed for it and can cause slipping. I use Valvoline 5w30. Should hold around 3 quarts. There should be a dipstick or site glass on the right side of the engine, almost behind the exhaust.
