How do I remove the startmotor on a flhti standard 2006

What type of battery do you have. With HD AGM the battery post is lead over a steel threaded post and if the connection is not clean and tight and the battery bolt is not clean all the current will go through the bolt only and the bolt is not a large enough conductor by itself to handle starting currents and can melt the battery post. Check this first (and all your other connections). Starter may well be drawing too much current also though so you need to do a starter draw test next. Voltage drop is good to track down problem areas but it seems like you already have sourced it to battery/starter area/connections. Bad/poor starter ground not likely to have these symptoms.
