Question about kawasaki KX 125 Motorcycles

We have a new 2011 KX110L and when the fuel tap is turned on gas leaks from the bottom hose. What is the cause of this?

There may be some dirt in the float valve jet, the carb needs cleaning

2005 drz 125L carb hose line diagram


Might be fuel leaking from overflow. Perhaps the float valve is stuck or damaged, allowing the float bowl to overfill. Slight chance tapping on side of carb may seat the valve. If not, it will probably have to either be set, or replaced. Could possibly have some "gunk" stuck in the valve seat from the cleaning. It only takes a tiny speck of debris to hold the valve open, causing flooding. Another possible cause is that during the cleaning, the tab that adjusts the level of the float valve got bumped, changing the level.

My 93 Honda CBR600 TURNS BUT Wont start. it started yesterday but was leaking fuel through the fuel lines so turned it off n took gas tank off n replaced hose clamps n put back together n now it wnt start....


When you put the fuel hoses back and refitted the tank, did you make sure the vacuum tube to the fuel tap was reconnected ?

The fuel tap has a vacuum connection in order that the fuel is automatically cut off when the engine stops - the tap has on-off-reserve manual settings, but this is overridden by the vacuum. So, even if you have set the tap to "on", if the vacuum hose is disconnected/blocked/leaking, no fuel will reach the carbs.

The vacuum hose is about half the diameter of the fuel hoses and connects to the smaller spigot on the tap, and either the number 1 or 2 cylinder vacuum take off point on the carbs.

Pressure build up in gas tank Sporster


Harley Davidson has handled gas tank venting in a couple ways over the years. One is to allow the venting to be done by the gas cap the second is to have a non-venting cap and connect a vent hose to the tank which vents air from the top of the tank. You said your hose was dry rotted so it should be replaced. However, I don't feel that, by itself, would allow pressure to build up. Replace the hose and, while it's off, ensure the connection to the top of the tank is not plugged. When you put the tank back on, ensure the hose doesn't get crushed. It sounds like proper venting is all that is required.

Something else to consider is that a plugged vent would, most likely, cause a vacuum in the tank instead of pressure. (As the tank empties while riding, air can't come in to fill the space vacated by the gas.) The only reason I could expect that you build up pressure is if the vent is plugged and the tank gets heated from an outside source such as the sun.

Carburator leaks gas when cycle is started or running from what looks like vent hose?


Sounds to me like your float valve is obstructed by some debris. This is causing it to stay open and leak fuel. Better it leaks to your vent hose than it leaks in your engine and contaminates your oil.

You need a proper carb cleaning. Not some run in the gas tank sh*t. If the tank wasn't full when parked, chances are there is rust in the fuel system to get this out you need to disassemble the carburetor and thoroughly clean it.

Try not to ride the bike til you do this. It's a fire hazard.

Gas in oil of a 18 hp briggs & stratton


Hi, it is a common problem in ride on mowers. It's caused by fuel leaking past the needle float in the carby. The needle needs to be checked to make sure it is sealing. To do this crimp the fuel hose off and remove the bowl off the bottom of the carby. Hold the plastic float up parallel with the carby body and remove the crimp, no fuel should drip from the needle unless you lower the float from parallel. If fuel drips replace the needle and re check sealing. Re assemble when all is ok. Change the oil and fit an inline fuel tap. Turn the tap off when the mower is not in use to prevent further oil contamination. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

1986 kaw 454 ltd carbs leaking gas into airbox anybody know how to fix?I had. the carbs rebulit twice. the last time at the dealer lasted about a year.any body help me.


You have float and/or needle and seat problems. Remove the hoses from the air box to each carburetor. Set bike on center stand or block up to get it level--turn on fuel tap and watch for leakage from each carburetor. Turn the fuel tap off. Pop the float bowl off of any that leaked, remove the float and pin--catch the float needle. You probably have debris in the seat area which causes faulty float action. Turn on the fuel tap again and catch the discharge in a clean small jar. Look for rust or other particles in the fuel. If all carburetors are affected, look at the fuel strainer screen just above the fuel tap bowl--no holes and seated properly. You may need to flush the tank if the interior is rusted or full of dirty fuel.

the float is stuck you can either take it apart and clean it or you might get by by just tapping lightly on the fuel bowl on the bottom of the carburator to unstick the float

Honda 750 shadow gas leak


It is a vent / overflow hose. It drains to the atmosphere / street. If gas is coming out and isn't stopping then a float is stuck.

Turn off the gas and drain the offending carb(s). Next, turn the gas back on and sharply tap the float bowl with the plastic handle of a screwdriver as the fuel bowl refills. The goal here is to vibrate the float to free it up. If doing this process a couple of times does not free the float I would remove the carb(s) and look for any misalignment of float pin, needle or adjusting tang.

Now re-clean with a spray carb cleaner. Clean the air filter then re-mount carb(s). Next, Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a trap bowl ). INSTALL AN IN-LINE FUEL FILTER..

2nd cylinder not getting hot and leaking fuel from it


Assuming the carbs were rebuilt properly, this sounds to me like a carb float being stuck open. Turn off the gas and drain the offending carb. Next, turn the gas back on and sharply tap the float bowl with the plastic handle of a screwdriver as the fuel bowl refills. The goal here is to vibrate the float to free it up. If doing this process a couple of times does not free the float I would remove the carb and look at the float chamber fo any problems such as stuck float, float level not set correctly, and the correct installation of the main jet.

Use an air hose to dry out the cylinder then install a new spark plug AFTER you make sure that the cylinder is getting spark. Be sure to balance and sync the carbs when finished.
