140\90 means 140mm wide and profile 90% of width
so the 140\90 is the same width and about 15 mm greater radius

measure the free space between the swing arm and the tyre , this will tell you how much space is left to play with and also check the space between the chain and the tyre ! wider rear tyre may need a wider front tyre as it will affect the steering ! P...

2004 grand cherkee doesn't shift and then shifts hard. Only happens when turning left. Sometimes rear tire on drivers side squeels when goes into gear. Thanks

You have binding in your drivetrain, Make sure all your tyres are the same size and not work unevenly, You can get friction modifiers that help smoother shifting, also you may want to check your diff oil levels.

What are the largest tires (width) that I can put on my 03 FXST (both rear and front) without doing any modifications. Thanks!

Hi.

Standard tires are already oversized in 03 model. This are the maximum standard allowed, probably the same as what you already have:
Front - D402F MH90-21 54H
Rear - D401 150/80B16 71H
(front: 80/90 - rear :150/80-it was 130 in 02 model)

Without modification you cannot use any bigger tire. By changing wheel, belt and pulley, you can mount at rear up to 200 at rear (see job done on the 06 softail here).

At front you need to replace wheel and to move the fender. The result is not always great when you do modification to front wheel. The best thing to do is buying a spacer kit.

Regards

Ginko.

I have a 2004 GTP Supercharged and i get a back speed wobble between 80-90kms and 110 km's per hour. Less than 80km's or over 110km's it's fine. The problem seemed to appeard after i put the summer tires...

chances are a balance weight has fallen off, always dynamically balance wheels and tyres front and rear, dynamically, means up,down and sideways, stops shake and wobble.....

Grumbling Noise

yes it could cause the noise also having 80% tread is not good on the transfer case as it will constantly be putting stress on it. replace your fronts with matching tires and the noise should go away

Replacement tires on a Beo 200

I am thinking about my bike. Regarding replacement tires my 08 beo 200 has 100/80 (front) and 120/80 (rear). It is still early on in the tire's life cycle (only have 1300 miles) on it. They are the stock Cheng Shin tires. Dont really have anything to compare them against and have ridden in mostly dry conditions and just yesterday during and after a light misting but have no complaints in performance at all. Just looking down the road for when I do have to to replace the tires. I was considering getting tires with a bit more contact patch possibly 110/70 (front) and 130/70 (rear). This would give me more width and with a lower profile would possibly put me at the same diameter as the 80's. The ride will probably be more firm though. I have played around with cars and tires in the past, but two wheel dynamics are different so I am looking for the groups advice or input on the matter,I have been considering options as well for sometime next year. The host site lists a 110/80/16 in the Michelin Gold. Would the rim size on the Beo 200 support a larger size? They also list a Pirelli in 130/80/16 as a replacement for the Beo 200. Can one assume that the rear rim will indeed support a larger tire? I had to lay my scoot on its side once this summer and noticed how fast the front tire broke loose on pavement at slow speed. I was also wondering if a larger front tire would put a bit more rubber on the road, to any advantage. ,,,
