There are a couple of stripped gears in the transmission. The case will need to be split to locate and replace the bad gears. Be sure to replace not only the stripped gear(s) but also replace any gears that the gear teeth mesh with. Even if they look okay, they were exposed to the same punishment as the stripped gear. If you din't replace the "good" gears you get to do the repair twice in just a short time. Please rate my answer. Thanks. when you put it in - tombones49_57.gif

Mazda 2300 grindes when shifting into 4th

4th gear is not a gear as such but a coulping of the input and out put shafts to make a complete shaft
If there is a problem moving this coupling it indicates a syncro ring problem or spigot bearing failure in the end of the input shaft
either way it amounts to a gear box removal and pull down for repairs.

I have a 1996 Nissan XE pickup 2.4l.4cyl,4×4 5-speed. It grinds in all gears, even reverse except for 4th gear.. What's up???

if 4th gear is the only gear not grinding then there is a problem in the counter shaft bearings in the box
in reality there is no 4th "gear" as it is a straight through connection of the input and out put shafts and there is no load placed on the counter shaft set bearings

N16 manual makes a whiring noise when slowing down from 60kph in 4th, stops when put into nuetral

sounds like a bearing is on the way out in the gearbox, nothing really to worry about yet, if it is still going into gear, and not making a grinding noise.

mine makes a whirring noise when accelerating through 1-3rd gears.

It's when there is grinding and growling in the gear box that you need to worry.

Grinding noise when accelerating

HI If your bike is chain drive, look at the chain tension, the chain could be hitting the gear box case. If you primary sprocket is worn the the chain could be jumping teeth If you have a shaft drive then inspect the universal joints and the differential oil level

2010 crf450r jumping outta gear from 5th to 4th all other gears work fine

Terrence >>>> 1. Do not go through the gears while idling on a stand!!!
The rear tire is not moving at the speed that is normal for 4th or 5th gear..AND if you do get the tire moving that fast.. it is BEYOND DANGEROUS!!
This sounds like the 4th and 5th gears may need replacing.. or the shift drum detent for 5th gear has somehow become ineffective.. If you continue to ride this bike , you may cause more trouble and damage to the transmission.

Take this to a qualified professional!!

unfortunately what it sounds like is the transfer case like you suspect. inside are bearings and gears and a chain what happens is the chain will stretch and cause this problem it will actually jump the teeth on the gears, you will need to have the chain replaced in the transfer case. sorry to have to tell you this but i hope it helps.

The trans grinds when you put it into 3rd and pops out of 4th

I had a car that used to jump out of 3rd gear... it turned out to be a worn bearing in the gearbox. I'd expect something similar to be causing your problem...hope this helps.
