Have you checked for good compression? maybe the piston rings a shot
also make sure that the exhaust is not blocked
where are you spraying the starting fluid? into the airbox or straight into the carb

the other thing you could try is removing the plug and spraying directly into the head the quickly replacing the plug and kicking the bike if this dosnt work then the ring are deffintly broken

hope this helps

96 ciera 2.2 ran fine. parkedat night next morn wont start.its getting fuel and fire but sounds like its not even trying to start

Check for spark.. pull one spark plug out set it on bare metal(away from cyl hole fuel could light from spark) turn vehicle over and look for spark should be a nice lightning bolt looking spark... blue spark is weak spark.. and see if it's getting spark...,, if not,,."try new plugs.,wires, distributor cap&rotor " also first.spray a little starting fluid down the injection system turn it over and see if it fires.if it does then it's a fuel issue prob not electrical... try that.hope it helps

2.4 pt cruiser wont try to crank even with starting fluid its got good firing on all cylinders good suction at intake and fuel pumps getting fuel to motor have no way to tell how strong the fuel press

If a volatile starting fluid, typically ether, won't make it fire or even sound like it is trying to fire the problem is likely to be with the spark though if attempting to start continuously for some time hasn't caused the smell of petrol about the place and caused the spark plugs to show signs of wetness there probably isn't any injection taking place either.

In the absence of both spark and injection it could be an immobiliser problem or it could be one or both of the positional sensors (crankshaft or camshaft) or the connections or wiring or the ECU that has failed.
A code read might help.

I suggest spending some time checking the fuses first and then carry out a thorough visual inspection of all the associated pipes, wires and cables before moving on to a more in depth diagnosis.

Good luck!

Pontaic not fire while reading code p0463

Something in your ignition system or circuit must have quit. The code does not seem to be related. Have you checked for spark?
There is a good read here on the code-a complete run through of what to check.

89 jeep wrangler 2.5 4 cylinder wont start. It turns over strong but wont catch even with starting fluid it just goes whir, whur, whir, etc. I have spark. thought it might be injector but it seems like it...

Check the ignition timing as it appears that the firing order is wrong. Make sure that the cam shaft is turning as it could be the belt broken

Car wont start or fire even with starting fluid

To review - - if you have spark, fuel, and compression, you should have combustion.
In this case, if the timing belt is damaged, you might not have compression or spark at the right time.
A faulty crank or cam sensor could cause you not to have spark at the right time.
The spark plugs could be worn out or fuel fouled and not able to fire under compression.
Did the car die or just not start ?

Wont start, wont fire even off starting fluid, has compression, appears to have fire(with plug out and grounded to head)maybe no spark under load? help

Hi, first of all NEVER use starter fluid.........on anything. This stuff (ether) is highly volatile and could destroy your blower and cause you and others around you harm. Starter fluid is meant to start diesel engines when they are cold however, there is the possibility of pre-ignition and that could seriously harm your engine. Make sure your fuel/oil mix is correct. Also try pouring a few drops of mix down the cylinder, after replacing the plug, give the starter a try. With the proper fuel inside the chamber and a confirmed spark from the plug, the motor has no choice but to fire. From this you can determine if your idle is either too lean or too rich. Good luck.

My 1980 ski doo citation has good spart and great compression and is getting fuel but still will not run it wont even fire even with starting fluid i think its timing is messed up so how would i fix this

The problem may or may not be timing. You say it's getting good spark but is it great? if the compression is as good as you say and your spark isn't strong it can be put out by strong comp. if it is timing i would get shop manuel for it. i can't find a micro phish on it so i'm not really sure where to tell you to start.

I have a 1999 gmc Yukon it is getting fuel and spark i even sprayed starter fluid in the intake but it still wont start it turns over good but wont start

ok make sure you have good fuel pressure
you must have good spark must fire a spark tester
if all that is good then check compression
and don't use STARTER FLUID on a GAS ENGINE it can blow a hole through the piston
hope this helps
