Question about kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja Motorcycles

1 Answer

My speedometer seems to read higher than it should at highway speeds. When traveling at about 40mph its almost dead on with my gps/ other vehicles. When at Highway speeds I can be showing anything from 7-15 mph higher than gps/ or other vehicles. Is there an easy fix? Do I need to take it to a shop?

Unfortunatey you may not be able to fix this, speedos generally run from a sensor or cable at the front axle, and rely on the rotating wheel, and are not generally able to be calibrated.
An instrument tech amy be able to do something if your model?? has an electronic speedo, but the reading can change with different tyre sizes, and even slightly as the tyre wears

Colorado speedometer reads high according to GPS

Find one of those radar displays that sit on the roadside and tell you how fast you're going. Most likely your GPS is the one that's off, because it has to average and estimate your speed, wheras the vehicle's speedometer should be good from the factory.

1998 plymouth voyager speedometer reads 15 over

I would suspect you have a faulty electronic speedo head, have the cluster removed and have it sent out for repair of the problem. There is no at home repair procedure for this problem, it takes special equip to repair the speedo.

2010 Nissan Pathfinder Cruise Control issues

First I'll assume you haven't read the owners Manuel, Cruise control is not perfect on any vehicle. if coming to a hill put foot on gas to help rpm, going down hill put foot on brake to keep same speed, cruise control operates off of engine vacuum. Speed sensors can be affected by putting on smaller or bigger tires than what is on drivers door.

Most likely you have a bad sensor indicating a speed that is incorrect. Unfortunately you probably need to have it fixed at a shop or learn to know your exact speed from the tach and gear you are in.

Speed display inaccurate

Yes and no, Yes if you know enough to go into the operating system and recalculate the the timing of it and no if you don't. Also remember that it could be your speedometer that is out as well. They are allowed a variance of +- 5mph. Hope this helps
