How to tune a 1977 2hp evinrude carb?

The only tune is air mix screw. Turn out 1 1/2 turns and fine tune under way. If that don't do it you will need to remove and clean carb.

I am having trouble starting my lawn trimmer. Its relatively new and I have changed the petrol to make sure its 'fresh'

purchase some carb clean and take your air box(filter) off and hold throttle wide open spray short burst in then try to start, if fires up and quits, try until it goes, prob have to work old gas through it, also make sure your primer is functional full of gas and works o.k.

I Have a Ryobi Trimmer. I cleaned out the carb and put it back together but forgot the High and Low needle settings. I have got it to start but am having trouble tuning it. I have put a carb kit in it and...

adjust the needles both all the way in until they stops. unscrew both 1 1/2 turns and start engine. slowly accelerate and if it bogs down unscrew the HIGH SLOWLY until full speed is gain. some times you have to unscrew a little the low speed too. is a matter of playing with it. be patient you will get it. if you are still having problems you may have to take the bottom of carb. out and make sure the gas inlet needle is letting pass gas into the carb. chamber.

the high speed check valve is most likely stuck and not allowing fuel to flow properly. the bad thing is it cant really be fixed. i have had some luck removing everything and putting it in an ultra sonic cleaner for about 10 minutes. however the fix doesnt usually last long. may want to look in to a new carb.

Mcculoch mt 300mcculoch petrol strimmer carb two adjustable screw bolts ones for petrol, ones petrol & air mixture hich one does which

Actually both screws are for petrol mix. The screw closest to the engine is the Lo side. Lo side jet provides petrol at idle and during the ramp up to speed. Hi side jet (closest to air filter) only effects the mix at high speed.
From McCulloch, these were set at 1 1/4 turns out.
Good luck!

My goldwing would not run when I bought it. It had sat in garage for 3yrs.I figured it was the carbs so I took them off and cleaned them. Now the bike runs but rough. How do I adjust the carbs.

sounds like carbs are still dirty, but you will also need to check valve clearances are correct, ignition timing correct. To tune carbs you need vaccuum gauges to tune and syncronise. Also if bike been sitting, would be wise to replace rubber timing belts as they deteriate with age and can break

Starting trouble

If the odd substance was at the bottom of the float bowl it was water. If it were oil it would have mixed with the gas and you would not have seen it. Drain the carb into a cup to remove any additional water from the carb and petrol tank. When no more water comes from the tank you should be okay to start the bike. Clean air filter? Water gets into the tank via condensation in the tank.

Has been sitting up for a year and i'm having trouble getting it to turn over

Check spark (Clean/replace) plugs look for good spark; check battery (bad terminals can interfere with a good ground); check air filters (not clogged that will affect fuel/air mix), check new gas (old gas varnishes in as little as 3-4 months); check carbs( drain floats and look for crud)....Gotta be one of these...process of elimination.

Petrol smell

looks like your carburettor's giving out a rich fuel mix there or you've forgotten to turn off the choke get you carb tuned or jetted for better mileage (at a loss for speed - acceleration & power... if that's not important to you).,,
