Is the lever sli[[omg on the shaft ? OR the shaft in the case is not holding?
The lever can feel tight yet be loose when kicking. Remove the lever and check the knurling on the shaft. If the clamp bolt is not kept tight, the lever will slip and destroy the shaft knurling as well as the lever and they won't grip each other. If you replace the lever, you will need a new shaft also.
Good Luck, -Ned-

Internally ,Inside the case, There is a return spring that resets the lever when it goes up. You willl need to take the side cover off and check the mechanism. Remember to chk the shaft and lever splines as you remove the cover. Once opened, the problem should be easy to spot. Will be here, so if you want, take a picture of what you have and send it to me. Till then, Ned.

I have recently bought a '72 CB350 twin. Everthing worked but now the kickstarter won't. The kickstarter will go all the way down and return, there is no combustion sound. It will turn the wheel...

possible problem as this is a common thing on the CB360's. What happens is the kick leg tends to slip out of sync with the engaging gear, it will be under the right side cover. Some times you need to remove the cover and manually put it back in to sync.

Otherwise you have stripped your kick starter gear.

1995 JEEP WRANGLER Automatic 4 cyl. gears starting to slip

ck the condition of the tranny fluid. If the fluid is very dark, it will need changing. Another problem with the jeep auto tranny is that if the fluid has not been changed in a long time, the clutch material will wear and clog the tranny filter inside the pan.If there is alot of clutch material in the pan and you change the fluid and filter, sometimes the tranny won't work because the clutches are worn out too much.

Feels like gears are slipping with any kind of power

If you are hearing a bad grinding noise then Stop riding the bike NOW. If you continue to ride, or run the engine, you will only do more internal damage and make the repair cost higher. Chances are you have a bent shift fork and the noise is the engaging dogs on the slider gear grinding the side of a fixed gear because the bent fork is preventing full engagement.

The entire engine comes out of the frame and gets completely torn down. The top end comes off, the case covers come off, the clutch, shift shaft, kick starter, flywheel and electrics all come off. Then the case is split to gain access to the gears and shift drum. The gears and shift drum now get removed and now the fork can be replaced. If a gear needs to be replaced because of a broken teeth, replace also any gear the teeth mesh with. A few special tools are needed. Sorry for having to give you the bad news.

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!

Stuck in 4wheel drive??? help :)

when driving in 4wd engagement there is a problem in that the torque in the axles and drive lines is not dissipated on hard surfaces as the wheels cannot slip ( great for snow ice mud gravel and the like but a no-no on hard non slip surfaces
yes reversing it will relieve it but if on hard surface ,winds it up again in reverse
better to simply drive two wheels onto the grass verge of the hard surface and then kick it into 2wd
if the diffs are limited slip diffs then the antislip action in the diffs will be pressed very hard together and will produce problems on turning corners
you may have success if you get all 4 wheels of the ground on a hoist and let the wheels spin and then try to engage 2wd
