Sounds like an ignition problem or a connection problem my freind .first disconnect the key to wire plug they sell electrical connecter cleaner fairly cheap being a 2000 the plug might be gummed up.if not that pull your ignition off most bike shops will tell you if its bad last but not least check for loose n corrooded wires around positive an negative starter n ignition. good luck hope i was of sure to disconect yer battery before all.

I've a similar problem. I traced the problem to the 6 wires goin into the ignition barrel (no light on the dash and no spark at the plug. by crossing wires 1 and 3 i can get the dash lights on and neutral light but still won't starton the button or if i cross the terminals on the starter)
but don'tknow how to get the ignition out to check the connections. Is it pressed into position? Hammer and a bit of wood to knock it out?

Nuetral light died

More than likely there is a short in the wires around the neck by the ignition. Check the connector and wires around the ignition for shorts, frays, or for being open/cut.

I was riding the bike and the power cut completely out when i was in second gear it stayed on until it stopped. the electronics work on the bike but when i hit the start button nothing happens. any ideas

I suspect that either your magneto is shot, the battery, or the electronic ignition is? Check to see if there is anything coming out of the magneto etc, this is the first place to look.. and go from there....

Gsf 600 bandit starts and idles but cuts out when pulling away

This could be ignition related or a fuel problem or even a combination. If you not mechanically minded you are probably better off taking it to a shop. If you would like to try some things first I would recommend changing the fuel filter and the spark plugs(make sure to gap them properly) if that doesn't work. After that it gets more complicated and the shop is your best best.

I think i have a short or loose connection. sometimes i turn the switch on and it lights up and fires right up. then sometimes it dont. sometimes the lights come on and when i hit the start button it makes...

I think you are correct. I think id be looking at the connection the back of the ignition switch for starters ... but dont neglect any connection. Make sure battery connection is secure (though it probably is as you say you get a click when you press the starter.) I would normally expect the battery side of the start solenoid to be the place where your fuse panel gets its power ... look around and check all connections.

Well i was riding the bike at night and all of a sudden the lights shut off... and well everything shut off... and the bike died. but then came back on very fast and then died once again but did not come...

the main cause could be the regulator which died and cut off the power .
the CDI unit maybe the cause as well .
the last thing your magneto could also have died .

Headlights arent getting power. they flickered a little bit and died out while riding. when main switch is on there is continuity between 3 wires

I found if my starter switch was not fully back after starting that the lights would kick off. Try pushing the start button to the left and see if the lights come on. If so switch needs replaced.

Just bought a 87 600cbr honda hurricane, to start I have to pour gas directly into the carburetor. Will start for a couple of seconds then cut off, could that be fuel pump problem or something else? Anyone...

i would start at the tank and work your way to the carb looking for blackages in the petcock, fuel line ETC.

PUll the line directly at the carbs first, if you aren't getting fuel to your way backwards to the tank check the line.

If you are getting fuel to the carbs, pulls them off, flip them over..take the bowl covers off..and clean inside eachn one real good..making sure all the jets are not clogged up.
