Hi, Eddie85814 and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty starter button/switch.
6. Faulty jiffy stand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
7. Security alarm needs a reset.
8. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
9. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

My Suzuki liana won't start, the key turns and the electrics all work can you tell me what the problem can be

hi Tina.
engine wont start.
we need to know, does it crank over fast, the starter.
that be first.
the starter is electric, too, and must work. first.

1: per opr. guide, in glove box, check engine oil levels,
2: check fuses not blown.
3: if it cranks, ok, then check for lost spark.
4: if spark is lost, scan the pcm for why , or tow it to a shop.

Car starts but the engine will not turn over

Not likely. More likely is that the starter, or the starter solenoid is bad.
This is the way it works. Turn key, car checks to see if all safety items are OK (in neutral or park, brake pedal depressed, etc), if OK then sends signal to starter solenoid to engage(it's basically just a magnetic switch), which allows the full power of the battery to turn the starter and engage the bendix, which engages the flywheel and turns the motor. If any of those things are bad, the car don't start. If it's the starter, the bendix will make a metallic click or thunk. If it's the bendix, the starter turns, but not he motor. If it's a fault in the electrical system, then no starter, and no bendix. If the battery is weak, the bendix may or may not click.
To repair;
1; starter can be rebuilt, including the bendix. moderately expensive if done by shop. Inexpensive if you can do it yourself. Warning - it's a PITA to get it out!
2; selenoid can be replaced. Usually inexpensive, except for shop charges. It sets on top of the starter.
3; If electrical; this can get expensive as it is labor intensive to track down the fault, even if the part is usually inexpensive.

Won't turn over

Even though all your other electrical bits are working it could be that your battery doesn't have enough juice to crank the engine. It doesn't take much power to run the radio, lights, etc, but cranking the engine requires the battery to have a very strong charge. If your battery is more than 5 years old, that's very likely the issue. I'd start there. Also, be sure to check the battery terminals and ground for corrosion and clean if necessary. If replacing the battery doesn't solve the problem it could be the starter solenoid or a loose electrical connection somewhere.

Willnot start Just chatters like the starter gear is not going into the flywheel

Check battery charge level. If OK, check electrical connections. Check voltage drop across starter.

Where is the starter located on a 2007 Chevy Impala? It just clicks when I turn it on and lights barely turn on and the air will turn on only when trying to jump the battery. Engine didn't turn on even...

Check the battery like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.
If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
Check that the battery cable plus post, goes to the starter, Minus post to a good ground, like the engine.
If wiring is ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection.
Problem is most likely the Solenoid or starting relay, whichever the car uses.
Hope this helps.

My Mercedes a class 160 won't start. Battery is ok, all other signs are normal. When the ignition is turned on an electrical sound can be heard in the engine, but nothing further. Car is serviced...

if the sound is like a click noise then it may be the solonoid on starter. if this fails it will not turn engine over. it just wont engage flywheel. if need be have it checked to see if the starter and or solonoid are bad.

It sounds like your starter solenoid (relay) is failing. The clicking is a classic symptom. It's time to have it replaced.

A starter solenoid (or starter relay) is the part of an automobile which relays a large electric current to the starter motor, which in turn sets the engine in motion .In many vehicles the solenoid also engages the starter pinion with the ring gear of the engine.

The starter solenoid receives a large electric current from the car battery and a small electric current from the ignition switch. When the ignition switch is turned on, a small electric current is sent to the starter solenoid. This causes the starter solenoid to close a pair of heavy contacts, thus relaying a large electric current to the starter motor, which in turn sets the engine in motion. The starter motor is an electric motor that initiates piston motion in a car's internal combustion engine before it can power itself.
