Hi, it may well be the gear pedal pivot, as this is iron going through aluminium it acts like a battery & corrodes, when this heats up it will become stiff Strip clean & grease the gear pedal pivot & this should cure it.....

Or the bike has a bent shift fork or two. Don't try to fix it yourself. The entire engine has to come out of the frame then left and right side of the gearbox get stripped of all parts then bottom half of tranny case is removed then shift drum and forks. This is a pretty major undertaking for someone with no experience in gearbox work.

What would cause my 1997 f550 7.3 4r100 transimission to downshift from 2nd instead of upshifting to overdrive but I turn overdrive off its fine?

Sounds like to torque converter overdrive lock solenoid is faulty and the transmission is shifting to prevent damage.

Honda trx450 ex atv will upshift but will not downshift..

This would probably be caused by a failed shift controller. These machines rely on the ignition to be cut for a fraction of a second to ease the pressure on the gearbox. The fact that it works with mechanical assistance would seem to give weight to the diagnosis.

1998 honda passport ac not working compressor clutch engages

Just because the clutch is engaging does not mean it has enough freon to make it cold. I would want to know what the high and low pressure gauge readings are. It may need a can or two.

Do you mean upshifting starts way early? Going from 2nd to 3rd in other words?
Ireally don't know your transmission, but the alternator problem might've possibly spiked and hurt your shifting solenoids in the ******. don-ohio (:^)

OVERDRIVE is fine in most driving. if you tow a trailler or pulling long hills take out of overdrive. otherwise the vehicle will handle when to shift.

L480E shifts out of overdrive but will not return to overdrive until you restart the truck. I have a 2000 old body style chevy 2500 5.7 L480E. Truck runs great and shifts fine. !60,000 miles on it. Can...

The overdrive disengages when road speed drops below the threshold. Normally, when you speed up above the threshold you should be able to simply reengage overdrive. You may have a faulty speed sensor preventing that.

TRANSMISSION UPSHIFTS WITH A SLIGHT JOLT BUT DOWNSSHIFTS SMOOTH

Replace fluid and filter but add a bottle of Lucus Transmission additive. It will make tranny run cooler, shift smoother, renew bands a seals. Its also good to just put in all your cars to help make them last longer.

TOYOTA COROLLA KICKS AT 10 MILES PER HOUR WHEN ACCELERATING

Hi. the car is kicking due to the 1st to 2nd gear upshift in the transmission. Corollas are famous for this kind of behavior when it comes to the transmission. Some of them kick when upshifting, some of them downshifting, And some of them make a humming sound when they do so. It doesn't mean the trans will fail. Just make sure you do the usual fluid checks, and as long as it still look purple, you'll be fine.
